Friends brought us to what is one of the best places in Braga to get a rack of delicious pork ribs. We arrived as soon as they opened and were able to secure a family sized table. It fills. Up. Fast. In the summer I bet you are going to need dedication, real dedication, and a little luck to score a sit down meal inside. Maybe eat outside? Same rules apply.
The staff here are well informed and knowledgeable. We had no difficulties explaining food allergies to them. We think the service is hands down terrific!
My better half has gluten and egg allergies. She informed the staff and when needed, they were able to accommodate her. No issues later! Be aware this is not a gluten free space and they make no such claims.
We started with the Spring Rolls (which she did not partake-has gluten). They arrived almost as hot as the sun and we were forced, reluctantly, to wait until they cooled. They didn't stand a chance and were almost instantly demolished. The dipping sauce was almost forgotten about. A taco salad with no shell and a substitute dressing (chimichuri) was also ordered and happily consumed.
Two racks of 1/2 spicy and 1/2 chimichuri ribs were ordered. They arrived with a small green salad on the serving board, drizzled with a balsamic glaze. A bowl of golden french fries accompanied with a side of garlic herb mayonnaise. The ribs, diagonally set, hung over each end of the serving board.
They were perfectly cooked, properly seasoned and absolutely delicious. The spicy side had some heat and the chimichuri side was, well, you know... chimichuri.
If you somehow save room for dessert, they can help you.
We enjoyed a really good pitcher of red sangria. Another was ordered as the first seemed to evaporate. Take away was needed for leftover ribs and lasagna.
Lasagna? Oh yeah, we had that too! A big dish arrived in the group's attempt to sate the near bottomless hunger of the youths campaigning with our party. It worked.
tl:;dr You should really try...
Read moreMy wife and I while on vacation received a recommendation by the chef in our hotel about pPlace. He said it had the best food in Braga. He was absolutely right. Two brothers own the restaurant and their father is the chef. They treat you like family. They had best food I had during my entire stay in Portugal. I recommend the ribs, lasagna and sangria. The servings size is huge, the food was spectacular and the sangria was second to none! If I’m ever in Portugal again I will make my way back to pPlace no matter what. When it comes to price, pPlace was the least expensive restaurant I visited during my 2 week stay in Europe. Price wise it’s a steal. If you want feel at home thousands of miles away go to pPlace, no...
Read moreMade reservations in the afternoon for dinner at 7. When we arrived, a different person greeted us but knew my name and welcomed us to our table quickly. A very good sign of things to come. Service was warm and friendly throughout and we met the two brothers and their mother that (I think) own the place. We split a rack of ribs which were amazing! We did half spicy and half honey-mustard. The meat fell of the bone, the seasoned fries were delicious and our appetizer, fried cheese balls, were remarkably great. We preferred to eat outdoors and are glad we did. It was a beautiful Braga evening and the environment, on the footsteps of the cathedral, could not have been better. Looking forward to a...
