⭐ One star — deceptive payment practice

We had a decent meal at this restaurant, but the experience was completely ruined at the moment of payment.

I paid with a foreign card nominated in EUR, and the bill as well was in EUR (132€). The card terminal offered the usual currency selection - either pay in USD (with a 7% markup, which is mentioned in description on terminal) or pay in EUR directly.

Instead of asking me, the customer, which option I prefer - the waitress without saying a word pressed the USD option. As a result, I was charged 166.45 USD, which turned into 142.75 EUR, costing me over 10 EUR more than the actual bill. This is due to their terminal's poor exchange rate and hidden Dynamic Currency Conversion (DCC) fee.

This kind of behavior is unacceptable — it’s deceptive, predatory, and shows complete disregard for customer consent.

Great first experience at this restaurant for dinner tonight! First of all the service was attentive and friendly which was very appreciated! I had the pinapple and coconut curry prawns and rice and my wife had the black linguine with prawns and garlic oil...both dishes were EXCELLENT. The only thing that I considered would have made mine any better would be to have some naan bread to finish mopping up the sauce! The cook on my wife's Shrimp dish was delicious! The way they were prepared made it very difficult for me to not steal a second bite. Even my 8 year old son had a memorable experience with his vanilla milkshake which according to him was "a 9.9!" It you are considering a nice place to have dinner in Cascais near the Marina definitely...

The service was very friendly, but the restaurant was clearly understaffed — only two waiters for the entire service. Even though they were genuinely trying their best, they were struggling to keep up. The octopus dish was just okay — slightly soggy and lacking the crisp, charred finish you’d expect from proper grilled octopus. The cod dish was very poor: dry, bland, and ultimately left unfinished. Fried cuttlefish was fabtastic.
