Oh dear..... I'm not sure how to review this one. A bit behind the time in food, food courty trying to be posh by the marina???
We had booked here as you advertised as having Gluten-free options though the only way you can have gluten-free is without sauce on anything.
I had the tuna with the sauce on the side. Pretty much every dish had the same nikkei sauce, which included soy sauce. When I opted to change to the shrinp green curry (which normally doesn't have gluten in it), I was told it would be the same for any of the sauces.
Can I just say that soy sauce is so easily obtainable as a gluten free option and barely tastes any different... think if how many customers you could gain if you just swapped this ingredient????
The waiters excuse was that there wasn't much they could do and it was hard to source gluten-free options, however loads of other restaurants within cascais do offer an alternative and have already caught up with customers dietary requirements.
My husband had an alternative fish dish, which was overpowered with salt, and couldn't eat it.
I think this restaurant is behind the times and I was disappointed. I say it was like a food court as it was very much seating you down, clearing the dishes and getting you on your way even though we had reserved a table online and stated dietary requirements
Would I recommend coming here? I'm afraid not when there are far superior restaurants in Cascias with comparable food and have worked with their clients so anyone can eat at their establishment without affecting their menu design or how they want the customers to taste their dishes.
I also have to note that there was no toilet paper in the toilets, having to message my daughter to bring some kitchen roll from the toilet to finish up and alert staff. It's not a biggy, but it's the little things that that should matter too.
Sorry Marisco, you need to go back to basics and reassess your clienteles changing dietary needs before I recommend...
Read moreIt was a really disappointing experience tonight (11/10). The service sucked! We were mindful they were large tables with several groups perhaps there was a corporate event, I don’t know. Regardless how busy a restaurant is a table for two cannot be forgotten. We had a starter (6 oysters- hardly anything to prepare) but the main got lost in process (Tartare & Ceviche). The lady waiters assigned to us was clueless and didn’t care. We asked several times (patiently and nicely) about the status of our main course . The response we got was “is coming”, at some point there was even a “rolling in the eyes” like we were bothering them. Anyway, bottom line is we didn’t mind the waiting as long as someone told us there was a delay in the kitchen. I personally think they lost our order- again not an issue as long a communication was going on not that. Finally, after 30’ minutes after having finished our drinks and our oysters and still no mains, We gave up. We decided to go the bar counter to pay for what we had consumed. We were told to speak to manager, who was so overwhelmed that didn’t want to hear. He said “you don’t need to pay and “ADEUS”. How nice?! Not really just shows that people have no clue about Customer Service and Customer care. Having recently moved to Cascais from London I am pleased to say there other nice restaurants at the Marina and other wonderful places to eat oysters and seafood around with great customer care. Bad behaviour from...
Read moreFirst off, have to say I've been travelling to Portugal for over 40 years, have property on Lisbon coast and I'm a Portuguese citizen living abroad. To start with the good.....location is wonderful and the table staff were fantastic! A++. The hostess was not accommodating and found her very rude and short but given how fantastic the table staff were I would rate the overall service as a 4/5 because of the table staff. The quality /freshness of seafood has been declining in Lisbon and Algarve areas particularly, over the last 5 years. However, a recent visit to Marisco na Praca in Cascais Marina was particularly terrible. The seafood was not fresh, the fish on display was days old, gills dark brown and eyes were very cloudy. What arrived at our table did not taste fresh either. When I asked the gentleman working the fish counter whether he thought the fish was fresh he replied with "yes, of course" which is what bothered me the most. Anyone, with reasonable experience eating fresh seafood could tell how poor the quality was. For those travelling to Portugal, do not assume that all seafood is fresh. With the increase popularity in travel to Portugal over the past several years the quality has declined and I've watched tourists happily consuming and overpaying for below grade quality. Do...
