Guaka — Restaurant in Faro

We visited this place during the weekend. The reviews were pretty high, but unfortunately, the experience was poor.

Service: The place seemed quite empty when we arrived, but we had to wait a while to get the menu. Then we had to wait even longer to have our order taken because the waiters were either standing around chatting or completely ignoring us as they walked past. We waited more than 40 minutes for our food without being informed about the wait time. Additionally, people who arrived after us received their food faster. The waiters also neglected to clear empty plates, choosing instead to stand around chatting or ignore the tables.

Menu Availability: Half of the menu was not available. After we ordered, the waiter had to come back twice to inform us that our choices were not available.

Music: Initially, there was no music, then it switched to insanely loud music. Instead of the expected Mexican music, they played reggaeton.

Tequila: The concept of serving tequila every 30-45 minutes is fun until you notice that the waiters are pouring the cheapest tequila into more expensive El Toro tequila bottles and pretending it is the premium brand.

Food: The guacamole was overpriced at 11 euros and the portion was small. The tacos with sirloin steak, priced at 17 euros, were made with poor quality meat that was impossible to chew, as it...

Please don't come here!!! Worst restaurant I've ever been to.. Rude staff who have no decency or rules. When we sat down the waiter wiped the table and the few leftovers fell on our legs. We were there as a group and when the waiter came to take our order, my friends ordered their drinks and food before me and I said we're not ready yet and that I only knew what to drink. (The right way would have been to only bring out all our drinks). They brought out the other drinks but mine. The waiter never came back to get my food order. Then they brought out the food of my friends and the waiter didn't even look at me. I had to beg for him to come back. After this I had to wait half an hour for my food. And my drink still wasn't there when I got the food. And I've asked about it many times. The food wasn't good or bad. But definitely not authentic mexican. I really don't recommend coming here unless you want to be served by incompetent waiters who have no idea about anything. When they brought out the glasses for the free tequila shot the served everyone but us. We had to stop the waiter to ask for them. Although the food here can be very tasty, there are too many issues with this restaurant to properly recommend. Both the quality of cooking, and the portion sizes are very inconsistent. Sometimes the prawns in the prawn taco were perfectly cooked, sometimes slightly overdone (which makes a big difference). Seasoning can also be a bit off with not enough mango guacamole depending on the day, and nothing comes with most of the dishes. They would do better with slightly lower prices or have side dishes at a more reasonable price.

Another problem is that some staff are really good, some not so good. We once asked to sit at a specific table when the restaurant was empty and were told we couldn't because of there were bookings for all the tables. When we left 1 hour later we were still the only people in there. One staff member who seems to be the owner/manager has a terrible attitude and was quite rude. It's a shame because I'd happily eat here much more often as the food can be delicious when well prepared and the staff are on the ball but somebody is not running this restaurant properly and...
