Restaurante Ponto Smokehouse — Restaurant in Faro

Visited on 13th Aug 2025. We stopped here mainly because both the train and bus stations in Faro had out-of-service toilets, and this café had one available. On entering, the barista informed us that we needed to order something before using the toilet, which is understandable. However, when my friend asked to use the toilet first, the barista refused to give the key—even after I reassured him that I would order. A little more trust and flexibility would have made the experience smoother.

We ordered a double espresso and a tea, spending nearly €4. Unfortunately, the drinks were disappointing. The “double espresso” was more like an Americano—over-extracted, watery, and poorly made. The tea was just a basic tea bag in a paper cup of nearly boiling water, which was difficult to even hold.

After paying, ordering, and using the toilet, we transferred the very hot drinks into our own cups at a table (which took about a minute). The barista then reminded us again that tables were only for food customers—something he had already mentioned once when I ordered. We respected the policy, but under 35°C heat, it would not have hurt to allow us that one minute indoors, especially since there were no other customers in the café at the time.

Overall, we didn’t overreact, but we felt the respect for paying customers was lacking. If you only need a toilet in Faro, I would suggest getting an ice cream at McDonald’s instead—you’ll likely feel...

Small space, but friendly atmosphere with great tunes. Fantastic pulled pork! (and that's from someone from Texas) The menu isn't massive or overly complicated. But they do have some alternative sandwiches and side items for customers who aren't looking for what this establishment is advertising. But what they are advertising is definitely worth a visit, Because they do pulled pork well!

These large sandwiches are made with buns that are fresh, warm, soft and delicious. Topped off with coleslaw that compliments the amazingly juicy, tasty and flavorful pork, which is allowed to shine on its own (without being drowned out with any kind of thick bbq sauce). But if you're in need of some sauce to add, they still have you covered. Each table gets served with a bottle of their terrific homemade pineapple/Carolina reaper hot sauce, that will definitely give you a loving kick to the taste buds without knocking your socks off. I recently had the pleasure of dining at Ponto Smokehouse, and I can confidently say it was an outstanding experience from start to finish. Tiaro and his wife, who run the establishment, were nothing short of amazing. Their warmth and hospitality made us feel right at home the moment we walked through the door.

The restaurant itself was impeccably clean, reflecting the care and pride they take in their business. As for the food—every dish we tried was exceptional. The flavors were rich, and the quality of the ingredients was evident in every bite. It’s clear that Tiaro and his wife are passionate about what they do, and it truly shows in both the service and the cuisine.

I can’t say enough good things about the owners and this wonderful establishment. Ponto Smokehouse is a gem that I highly recommend to anyone looking for a top-notch dining experience.
