We stayed at the Made Inn for 2 nights. Upon arrival we were kindly greeted by a member of staff at reception. He was welcoming, informative and helpful. We then went to our room and were really pleasantly surprised. The room was so modern, fresh and clean, honestly not a bad word to say about the cleanliness of the room and hotel in general. The bed was comfy however we only had one pillow each and was a bit uncomfortable, however we asked a member of staff for 2 extra pillows and this wasn’t an issue, someone sent them up to our room and it was much comfier with the two pillows. The only thing is, when you’re in your room you can really hear outside in the corridor, if people are talking and moving around it feels as though they’re in the room with you. To avoid this I think staff should mention to guests to have courtesy and to keep noise to a minimum when moving around the corridors, especially early hours in the morning. On our last morning we were woken up at 6am by the fire alarm going off, I don’t think the hotel has any staff present from midnight till 8am, the alarm was going off constantly for 45 minutes, all the hotel guests gathered in the hotel lobby in the search for a member of staff however no one was there, we ended up just coming back up to our room, then after about 45 minutes it went off. This was really inconvenient as when I’m away on vacation I want to relax and not to be disturbed. There was a couple of members of staff in the kitchens cooking and preparing breakfast and I think the cooking was what set off the fire alarm, but even the cooks didn’t know what to do about the fire alarm going off. It was all very random. In our last day check out was at 12pm however our flight wasn’t until the evening and we wanted to leave our luggage at the hotel. This wasn’t an issue and the hotel staff member showed us to the room to keep the luggage whilst we went out. It was in a private room however it wasn’t very secure, any random person could claim they had luggage to collect and just take your bags, there was no system or security which was a bit unsettling. I suggest the hotel make leaving the luggage a bit more secure. Everything was great about our stay apart from the fire alarm and the luggage so I give my over all rating a...
Read moreLocation is fairly close by the main centre. Rooms and hotel areas are clean but room was noisy.
But service-wise really leaves a lot to be desired. Here's a recount of what happened.
Checked in last night for a 3 person room. However there were 4 of us as one of us had a flight and baggage delay.
Front desk guy says we could either book another room for 65 euros or pay a 50 euro upcharge to fit in the same room but he will notify booking.com.
We considered for a bit and decided to just pay the 50 euro charge for the room to save on hassle (even though other places charged less for an entire room)
We returned late at night and there was no one so decided for one to just pay at checkout. 3 people checked out first to catch a flight early in the morning and tells the guy at frontdesk (same guy as yesterday) I'd do checkout.
15mins later the guy barges into the room and complains that I cannot be there. I proceed to tell him I will pay the 50 euros as intended and thought that was the end of it. He says no problem at first, checkout at 12.
Right after starts telling my family he is going to call the police etc etc. Overreaction much??
I proceed to go to the front desk to pay, and then he demands cash at first. He then said I could do card when I told him he was full of it. We end up in a very angry and incredibly unpleasant shouting match after about how I was playing him (lol please)
I proceed to return the keys at 12 for checkout later and the guy tells me this time, much more nicely that he was so angry because "your friends lied to me that u wasn't in the room. been doing this 14 years and etc etc, Happy New Year".
I thought, fair enough, was too tired to argue at this point anyways.
Later I verified the situation and realised that that is impossible especially when he was told the keys weren't returned because I'm in the room and I'll be doing the checkout (which means that hello, the fee will end up being paid)
So unpleasant and unnecessary. You don't have to bend backwards for guests but I think the bare minimum in hospitality is being courteous and not harrassing your guests and calling the police for idk...
Read moreWe've already checked out early due to the misleading posting of the room itself.
When you look at the pictures of the room, not only do the pictures distort the size of the room to make it look bigger than it is, but the pictures also show the room with beachfront views for the room I booked but it's actually not. The hotel itself is centrally located, surrounded by abandoned and under construction buildings, it's also over 10 miles from the beach, which means each picture has been photoshopped to mislead travelers into booking at the hotel.my pregnant partner at 1st the front desk was unwilling to accommodate but I was able to speak with someone on staff who was kind enough to accommodate, however the pillow itself had a blood stain on it.
The rooms that are considered larger are located on a side of the hotel with no lift, which means you're going to have to go up multiple flights of stairs with luggage just to get to your room. The side with the lift barely works and actually momentarily got stuck on the 4th floor with us inside of it.
When expressing my concerns with the front desk on 2 occasions, I was told to contact Expedia about my concerns, when I did they were super helpful but were also unable to reach a resolution with the property management company when they called.
When speaking again with the front desk, I was met with a condescending attitude when trying to reach a resolution and pay for the night I stayed while attempting to get refunded for the additional nights I paid upfront. They once again told me to take it up with Expedia and that it's "Not...
