Design Centre Nini Andrade Silva — Restaurant in Funchal

You can do much better!! Sorry guys, not worth the money! First, when we arrived in the floor where the elevator lets you out, many employees were running around but no one cares about you. After we asked someone where the restaurant is, someone told us some kind of impolite: we have to wait at the small shop, someone picks us up. Ok 👍 after the pickup, they brought us to the restaurant with another elevator. So far, so good.

There are four waiters running this restaurant. Only one is smiling while talking to you. The other ones are not interested and very neutral. 😐 why is that? No smalltalk? Not even ONE was asking, if we liked the food after every course. Only „are you finished?“…

The Aperol Spritz was made with an old Prosecco and we got a new one after telling the bad quality of the Aperol. Also no one asked, if we want some wine for the dinner… When the main course arrived, the waitress noticed, that there is no wine and asked us, if we want some…But much to late…sorry.

Come on guys! You had only 6-8 tables to serve with a team of 4!

The meals are really nice decorated and very tasty. No complaining about the food, but the service is a challenge.

Also: why is there 8 Euros for the bread and butter called „couvert“ on the bill? We didn’t order that… bread and butter is complementary in a restaurant. Why do you charge it as a service fee? After noticing that, I regret to gave you a tip, because you already grab 8 Euros for bread.

Don’t get me wrong, the food is really tasty and really nice on the plate, but you could be Full House every night with a good service team.

Sorry guys, not worth the money! Not even a warm wish for the guests when they leave… „Thank you for being with us“ OR „have a good night“ is a minimum I expect as a guest. So sad… 😞 that’s the coldest service I had for a long time.

Expensive, but worth it! Our best meal in Madeira yet. We were four for a birthday lunch. We sat on the sunny terrace overlooking the Atlantic and the staff were happy to arrange sun umbrellas. We started with cocktails including an excellent Madeiran Sour. Our 4 starters included soup and a delightful tiger prawn dish. Our 4 mains were fish of the day (red snapper), a seared tuna and a glazed duck. The fish came with a designer version of a chip - fried potato - that was a masterpiece We finished with one cheese plate and one cheesecake between four - quite enough. With this, over the course of a long afternoon we got through three lovely bottles of Madeiran and Portuguese wine and coffees. You can choose a discounted a la carte menu or a fixed price selection of the same dishes but with house wine. We wanted to select our own wines so we chose the former. It worked out about the same. With couvert (bread) and water we blew nearly E300 for four but we didn't regret a penny of it. Worth saving this place for a special occasion. The service was a delight - very helpful and friendly. An Unforgettable 5th Anniversary at Nini Design Centre in Madeira...

We celebrated our 5th anniversary at Nini Design Centre on 8/8/25 with the Sensation Menu — easily one of the most incredible dining experiences we’ve ever had.

I booked in advance requesting a romantic water-view table. While every seat has a view, the team went above and beyond, placing us at a breathtaking spot overlooking the shimmering lights of Funchal and the mountains after sunset. Pure magic.

From the moment we arrived, service was flawless. Four attentive staff members ensured our comfort, kept our glasses full, and made every course perfect. The sommelier was exceptional — passionate about his craft, sharing insights on each wine, and offering tastings to help us choose the ideal pairings.

And the food… art on a plate. Each course was a masterpiece, beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. The chef’s creations were so exquisite my wife was in awe — smiling between every bite.
