Restaurante O Tapassol — Restaurant in Funchal

We passed this restaurant several times , and every time we did a lady would wave at us to come in. This time we did. We sat on the patio which is a good size , unfortunately you do get quite a lot of road noise from the passing vehicles. Inside looks very nice also. We tried the limpets for the first time and honestly theyre not to my taste. They look like mussels ,but don't taste as good . IMO anyway. We had the espetada and grilled octopus. Both were cooked very well. Very tender and tasty. Very small fries and salad plate with the espetada. Fries are ok , lettuce and tomato were fresh. Cucumber was dryed out. My family and I recently went to O’Tapassol whilst on holiday and I cannot rate this restaurant highly enough. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming and nothing was too much trouble for them. The food was exceptional. We ordered the chicken fillet, Caesar salad and the steak. The steak and the chicken fillet came with chips and a lovely side salad. The food was cooked to perfection and was fantastic value for money. I think you would struggle to find a better authentic Portuguese restaurant on Madeira. It was so nice that we came back for a second meal on our final night. We have visited this particular restaurant many times and regard it as our favourite.the staff are very friendly and courteous and the food is always of a high standard.the chocolate mousse is fantastic. This restaurant has now re-located to the top end of the town and unfortunately has suffered as a result. The outside dining area is drab and somewhat disappointing and the outlook is even worse being situated on a rather unappealing back road. The food whilst being ok was not in our opinion up to the standard of past years.There was no chocolate mousse on the menu and the wine we chose was pretty tasteless.Such a shame as the old restaurant was very...
