The Snug Smoke House — Restaurant in Funchal

This smokehouse has a great atmosphere and decor. All the different textures and nods to the smokehouse are all great. I am from the Deep South of the U.S. where BBQ is a way of life. Everybody argues what state has the best BBQ meats, rubs, sauces, etc... I saw another southern born person say they liked it, so of course I had to try it. I got my family down to the restaurant for a treat night. Honestly, more selfishly cause I just craved some good BBQ. Lol. My husband got the brisket tacos. It was decent as far as a different kind of taco goes. BUT....I did the build your own. I got the brioche bun with pulled pork, Emental cheese, mayo, jalapenos, (forgot the dang crispy onions .... mom brain) and sweet sauce. I love me a good sweet and spicy sandwhich. Boy did I get a good one. I couldn't finish it all, gave it to my husband who even said wow...that's good. Now....word of warning if you want to get what I built...it was an 18 euro sandwhich. Would I recommend this.....absolutely. It was good. So, yes, I will go back and eat. My daughter got the cheeseburger. She liked it. We then had to get dessert. I got the oreo cheesecake. The staff are friendly and the decor is modern, but do not come here if you are looking for craft beer. (Seems to specialise in smoothies and wraps). I searched ‘craft beer’ online and this one came up, and a customer photo of a bottle of IPA confirmed it but when we arrived they only had the local Coral, of which I ordered two cañas which were approx 20 or 33cl size and the total price was 6€ something, which seems the be the most expensive in Madeira. I definitely wouldn’t return.

In response, yes we definitely went to The Snug in the place marked on Google maps, and my review isn’t fake because I don’t like to spend my time writing fake reviews. I add a photo of the interior of the place I went, just in case there is an error on Google and I have it wrong. I see many of the photos are of a different interior, so maybe this is a sister company?? I’m just trying to help people who are looking for good beer, as I had triple disappointment, firstly when I asked for the selection and hoped for an IPA and APA and the lady said they only had… Coral (possible two different types of but both lager), and maybe a stout in the fridge, and then when I tasted it I didn’t enjoy the Coral at all, and then the exorbitant price, which was even double that of a flashy cocktail bar we went to in the...

The staff here are to busy talking to each other then taking care of customers the starter was outstanding then it want down hill from there my BBQ Ribs came out cold not hot and no source on it at all it was a joke and it was more burnt then anything else my Daughter got Chicken Taco’s he love them not this time they tasted stale when my husband asked for the manager the two staff members saying he is not here at all he told them what was wrong not even a sorry from them not even let us try sort this out he asked what was the password for the Wi-Fi they told him and it was not working as well then he told them about this they said made you put it wrong so he showed them that it was not working they said I will have a look and came back saying it’s down and they was fixing it we was in there for over 1 hour and it was not working at all it’s a joke they did not even try and fix it or try anything so sort things out at all what a let down don’t go here for food it’s a ripoff big time and poor customer service my husband stayed to talk on them online chat then they just did not reply to any message’s at all stay away from here please have a look at pictures...
