Uva THE Restaurant in Funchal | 360⁰ Sky Bar
It’s a jewel hidden on the rooftop of The Vine Hotel, on the last floors of La Vie. Few people think about looking for restaurants in hotels. But this one is THE gastronomic restaurant in Funchal. We went there a few times, and enjoyed it every time. The food is absolutely delicious with fresh local products cooked in a wonderful manner by the Chef. French creative cuisine with balanced flavors nicely mixing in an incredible explosion of textures and tastes. The plates were very nicely prepared and presented, the plus that put you “l’eau à la bouche” as they say. The wine card is impressive with wines from around the world. We suggest that you ask the Sommelier to guide you. Do not hesitate to try white and red local wines that are really astonishing, the grapes growing on this volcanic island soil. The service is flawless, formal yet relaxed. Perfectly timed and done accordingly to the rules of table service. Another plus. The Restaurant itself is nicely decorated with three areas: the climatized main room, a covered outside part and the terrace with breathtaking views of Funchal and it’s bay. We recommend that you make a reservation but there are always places for people dropping by (for dinner open every day between 7-10 pm). The prices are not cheap, since the restaurant is not, neither astronomical, but it worth paying for this high quality. If you want to start or finish your evening with a drink, the 360° Bar by the poolside next to the restaurant is perfect, once again with the wonderful view. Good choice of wines, cocktails and alcohols (and non alcoholic beverages). Very nice waiters knowing they job to the perfection. The bar make happy hours between 5:30-6:30 pm and...
Read moreExcellent, attentive service from the entire staff. We made a reservation same day and sat on the terrace overlooking cruise ships/downtown. The three course meal for 59 euro is pricier than other dining, but a really nice experience. My husband also got the wine pairing with his, which put a white, red, and a Madeira with the three courses based on his selections. Since you can choose, I had the fish tartare, fresh fish (sea bream, snapper, and triggerfish - staff offered me a trio of all available) with risotto, and banana and nut cheesecake. Walked away so full and had a great experience. We were staying at the hotel, but great to visit even if you are...
Read moreI recently dined at the Uva restaurant and was pleasantly surprised by the experience. The staff were friendly and highly attentive, making sure our needs were met throughout the meal. They were particularly helpful with our allergy requirements, ensuring that our dietary needs were carefully addressed.
The food was pretty good. We particularly enjoyed the fish tartare, and the sorbet selection was great (the basil sorbet stood out). And the wine recommendations were great. Also, if you have a special bottle you keep meaning to open, you can bring it - they just charge a corkage fee.
It is on a more pricey end, but the service level made...
