What was supposed to be a quick espresso break with a pastel de nata turned into a very disappointing experience.
I visited Nata Lisboa in Leiria early in the morning with my mother, a place I’ve been to several times before and used to enjoy. While we were waiting to be served, we witnessed a truly unpleasant and uncomfortable moment between the business owner and one of the employees. The owner displayed an arrogant, superior attitude that bordered on racist behavior — something absolutely unacceptable, especially in a public, welcoming space like a café.
Ironically, the employee involved was kind, professional, and extremely helpful — a true asset to the business. It’s unfortunate that such a lovely team has to work under such negative leadership.

But the real star of the show was the pastel de nata. I heard that this place had the best, and I was ready to be disappointed , but it was SO DELICIOUS. As avaliações confirmaram-se: as funcionárias são ótimas, atenciosas e prestativas. Infelizmente, são lideradas ( ou talvez seja o dono) por alguém que aparenta não ter senso comum. Todos os clientes fizeram os seus pedidos, e a funcionária entregou exatamente o que queríamos. Contudo, alguns minutos depois, ouvimos o senhor mencionado a gritar com a funcionária, sem qualquer pudor de estar em frente aos clientes. Ele disse que ela tinha de usar menos loiça para servir os clientes, pois, segundo ele, quanto mais servir, maior a probabilidade de prejuízo. E, numa fala de tom claramente xenófobo, que me recuso a repetir, humilhou a funcionária. Não compreendo as respostas a críticas anteriores que negam “uma acusação grave”, quando aqui estamos a relatar UM FACTO, que aconteceu à vista de todos os clientes presentes. Acredito que as câmaras de segurança confirmariam o nosso testemunho.
Fica claro que aquele comportamento não foi um episódio isolado, e ficamos a pensar: se é assim que tratam os funcionários na frente dos clientes, não queremos imaginar o que lhes...
