A Padaria Portuguesa — Restaurant in Lisbon

AVOID! If i could give this negative stars I would. This chain is more expensive thsn the surrounding local patisseries, cannot say if the food is good or not as did NOT want to eat here. Had vouchers to get some free Pasteis de Natas on firdt day in the city, regret coming to the closest store - the look the worker gsve me was enough to make me leave, as if I slapped her and asked her to do some work, her expression did not change the entire time I was there.

They also had not seen these vouchers their store were giving out either and had to make numerous calls.

The main reason not to rst here though is the huge amount of FLIES everywhere, covering all their food in the cabinets etc. The workers could care less, it was a sickening site that they still chose to serve this food/did nothing to remedy the problem. DO NOT VISIT! Needless to say, i threw the free Natas in the bin to avoid...

Have tried from this chain before and love it every time. Affordable prices, friendly staff and very good food. My only remark with this specific store is their terrible catering service. They do not know how to manage large crowds of customers. Within the store customers are supposed to take a numbered ticket and wait for their number to be called to order. Many of the customers failed to do so and the staff failed to remind them (which they do in the other stores I’ve visited). It left people waiting for a long time. Also there are supposed to be 2 lines, one for dining-in and one for take-outs. The staff failed to cater to these take-away clients, moving me to remind them to do so as these orders should have been faster to take care of. With a fever of 39 C, lying in my hotel room, my girlfriend went to this bakery to get me something to eat. A little confused, which is completely expected when you are worried about somebody you care about, she was "welcomed" by two employees at the desk which started laughing at her while she was choosing what to order. They were asking why she is wearing a cap (in January), asking a couple of times if she is from Bulgaria or Norway and laughing about it (as if being from Bulgaria and Norway is something to laugh about). We are from Serbia and we kindly invite you to come to our country to be welcomed with respect, which everyone deserves.
