Review (English)
Iām sorry to say I canāt recommend this cafĆ©.
My wife and I came in for breakfast and ordered a crab eggs Benedict, an oatmeal-chia bowl, and two coffees. While the food itself was acceptableāthough a bit heavy and drowned in sauceāthe real issue was the service. It was a jackpot of small problems that added up to a pretty frustrating visit: Slow start ā We were seated, but no one came to take our order for about ten minutes. Missing basics ā Our coffees arrived without spoons or sugar. When I asked, the server brought one spoon and still no sugar for my wife. Forgotten water ā Weād asked for water when we ordered, but it never showed up until we reminded them after the food arrived. Still no spoons ā The chia bowl came with no spoon at all, so I had to ask yet again. Take-away that never came ā Iād ordered a chicken dish to go at the very beginning. Nearly an hour later it still āwasnāt ready,ā and I had to leave without it. Extra card fee ā On top of everything, thereās a 4 % surcharge for paying by card, which the staff mentioned only when I was already at the register.
None of these issues alone would have been a deal-breaker, but together they show that good service simply isnāt a priority here. If the cafĆ© invests as much attention in training its staff and streamlining its processes as it does in its dĆ©cor, it could be a pleasant spot. Until then, Iād suggest looking elsewhere...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreHad the crab cake benedict and it didn't have any taste. We had to ask for additional seasonings. Definitely expected a lot more. When we were there, there was also a very disruptive customer that was swearing and insulting people. Everyone was uncomfortable including the waitstaff. But they said they couldn't throw him out or tell him to stop. Despite this and the food, the waiter was super nice and friendly so I wasn't going to write a review. But after we paid, I found out that we were charged a "service fee" for an international credit card. We were not told this prior. If so, I would have used MBWay instead and paid with my Portuguese card. I have never been charged a fee at another restaurant in Lisbon so I know it's not my card issuer charging the fee. Also suggestion to reprint the paper menus periodically as they were quite grimy.
Edited: thank you for your reply and addressing the concerns Tiago! We werenāt offered 30% that Iām aware of. Anyway donāt worry about the refund. Itās ok. I appreciate the gesture. Also I understand it was a tough situation with...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAight, lemme put yāall on real quick. Yo, I been huntinā for a real-deal coffee spot in Portugal for over a damn year, and lemme tell you somethinā ā Mila Eatery? That joint hit different. This aināt no tourist trap cappuccino garbage or them watered-down lattes you get in half the country. Nah. This place got straight-up coffee game on lock.
Place cozy, slick, got that minimal but warm energy. You know, the kinda spot where creatives post up with a Moleskine, or Gās like me just tryna sip somethinā that donāt taste like burnt tire water.
And the espresso? Punches like it owe you money. The staff? Mad chill, they know their shit. Respectful, hella knowledgeable, and they serve that brew with love ā real love, not that fake āhow can I help you todayā bullshit.
I been driftinā, tryna find a coffee home in this city (Lisbon), and now I found sanctuary. Mila Eatery the plug now. If you in Lisbon and you serious ābout your caffeine like I am, donāt play yourself. Pull up. Sip up....
