Let me start by saying, normally I am the type to take photos of my photo, and in way, shape, or form, was the food not photo worthy. But the aroma that hit my nose once my vegetable samosas were set on the table took me over.
Backing up, I was greeted with a warm and welcoming smile by the bartender, Sussil and was promptly given a menu by Jeevankala, who took care of me through the majority of the night. Now, I will say, I am biased as Indian food is in my top two cuisines. However, the menu had a great selection of alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages, starters, vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes, without being overwhelming. Once I was ready to order, she helped me decide on the perfect level of spice for my Paneer Tikka Masala. My order was complete and I received my Caiparinha shortly after, which was made to perfection.
After devouring my samosas, perhaps embarrassingly too quickly, another waitress, Bimala, had seen I was done and graciously checked in to see how I was enjoying myself, which my body language spoke for itself! The paneer tikka masala, alongside the garlic naan was probably the best Indian food I have ever had; and in a Portugal of all places! Chef Gopal Sharma came over to check on me as well to which I had to shake his hand out of respect for providing me with my favorite meal of my four day trip to Lisbon!
The entire staff is so kind and accommodating, I will 100% be back and be sure to let anyone I know coming to Lisbon to dine here! 10/10...
Read moreIf you are someone who has never had REALLY authentic Indian food, then you clearly don't know what it tastes like, and then if you end up going to this so called Indian restaurant, then hey, you are getting scammed in the name of Indian food. It is clearly a kitchen run by a non-Indian chef who can't tell the difference between what spices and ingredients to use in INDIAN cooking. And if the food was indeed made by an Indian person (won't call them a Chef) then they should leave that profession immediately. Finally planned to eat Indian food on our long Europe trip, and sadly chose this place. Absolutely poor food in the name of Indian food. Barring the beer, nothing was authentic. If you are a desi, pls don't even bother going to this non-Indian chef run place. And to the restaurant authorities - Don't give this a racism angle, it's not. And no I'm not some competition here writing a fake review. Your food according to me sucked, and I'm calling it out. Hope you take it in...
Read moreWe have tried many/most of the Indian restaurants in Lisbon, and this is by far our favorite. We come here about once per week for lunch or dinner. The food is outstanding - flavorful, fresh, and nicely presented. Atithi has one of the nicest atmospheres of all the Indian restaurants in town - the interior contains a beautiful blend of Indian and Portuguese design elements and motifs and the chairs and tables are comfortable and nicely laid out to allow for conversations. And the service is consistently helpful and friendly. Atithi is a great choice regardless of the type of restaurant experience you are looking for (eg, a nice romantic dinner or a quick lunch). And speaking of lunch, their daily lunch special is one of the best deals in Lisbon. For all of these reasons, we frequent this restaurant on a...
