Block House — Restaurant in Lisbon

We came to Blockhouse after a long day of sightseeing, tired and hungry. There were 4 of us in total, and even though it was very busy, we were quickly seated. The menu was extensive, with plenty to choose from, but we all knew well in advance that we wanted steak!

The service was great, the waiter was polite, and he offered us the English menu straight away with no issues. The menus come in all kinds of languages, which is great for tourists! Drinks were replenished fairly quickly, and the food came out at a good pace.

We were served a salad as a starter which was included in the price of the main course, and it was simple and fresh- a perfect way to start our meal. The steak (I can't remember the exact cut I had- Ribeye I think) was served alongside a baked potato with a sour cream dressing which was divine, and some garlic bread. This is by far the bet garlic bread ever- if you come here, be sure to order more!

The steak itself was perfect. Cooked exactly to our taste, succulent and well rested. There was absolutely no gristle on the steak and I didn't leave a single bite. We also had some fries for the table incase I didn't like the potato- no issues there- and they were really tasty too.

There wasn't a massive selection of beers from what I remember- just really one brand of each type, and it was the type of beer that was listed on the menu, rather than the brand. Turned out to be absolutely fine and the beers went down nicely.

If you are looking for a treat, I would definitely recommend this place. It may be worth making a reservation though as they are always busy when we walked past- always a good sign! They are a bit pricier than other places in Lisbon, but the quality of food really...

Tried out this steak house located in Atrium Saldanha. It’s just a few steps away from Saldanha Metro station. The place housed 2 floors, but the top floor is the one mostly used. They offer varieties of steaks and seasoned with their own pepper & spice seasoning. This time, I opted for the filet mignon. A 180g steak well seasoned and cooked to perfection. It is served with fresh salad, or you can change it with soup with a bit of additional charge. They initially served the steak with mashed potato but i changed it into french fries instead because i was craving for some crunch. To accompany the steak, i got an extra order of mushroom sauce which complimented the steak extremely well. They also have garlic bread as a side dish, which is so garlicky & buttery. Love it!! Não recomendo!!!! Éramos uma família de 3 pessoas que decidimos almoçar no blockhouse do Saldanha. Neste restaurante não foi permitido a uma menina de 13 anos solicitar o magic meal, prato infantil, para as pessoas que não conhecem, este é um hambúrguer com menos quantidade de carne e que muitas vezes é também suficiente até para um adulto que quer ter uma refeição mais leve, menos quantidade de carne. Como o negócio é só para ganhar dinheiro, o cliente não tem qualquer importância, aqui neste local não foi permitido ao cliente fazer as suas escolhas de refeição, não querem saber se as pessoas podem ou não comer em determinada quantidade, o que o restaurante quer é simplesmente, se se sentou vai ter que pagar e neste caso um adolescente ou até mesmo um adulto que não estivesse com apetite e deseja comer menos, não lhe é permitido optar pelo magic meal, ao que parece, porque não tem idade?! É só para crianças até aos 12 anos! Obrigatoriamente!!! Ou seja, para poderes comer este prato, tens que ter menos de 12 anos!!! Nunca antes visto em restaurante algum, a pessoa pede o que quiser, até só uma salada e um copo de água se assim o desejar, proibir o acesso a um determinado prato, é surrealista. A empregada Cristina Mota, diga-se pessoa arrogante e responsável pelo restaurante, veio à mesa informar que uma das minhas filhas não podia comer o pedido do magic meal, que fizemos a outro colaborador, por não ter a tal idade… tendo nos dado a alternativa que melhor lhe convinha; - “coma um dos pratos do dia, vem com menos quantidade de carne e assim come como deseja, come menos, o magic meal não pode ser servido a esta menina de 13 anos, ultrapassa as regras da casa. A alternativa sugerida era comer bifinhos de vitela. A alternativa é muito parecida com o pedido da minha filha, não acham? Aqui neste espaço o cliente não tem direito a escolher um prato que lhe apetece. Acho que praticam uma atitude abusiva e de imposição, quem tem um estabelecimento aberto ao público não pode nem tem o direito de tratar ninguém desta forma, até porque estávamos a consumir, na verdade, nós éramos mais duas pessoas que iríamos almoçar outros pratos “normais” da ementa. Não são acolhedores, nem atenciosos com os clientes. Péssimo atendimento!!! Uma frustração para a nossa família, um almoço entre mãe e filhas que acabou por criar mau ambiente e mau-estar e tens que pagar por um serviço que fica muito além do que é razoável e desejável.
