I left a review last evening, but accidentally check the box for 50+ euros for one person. My apologies, I only spent 20+ euros for myself. I wanted to report back so that my review would be accurate and not misleading. My review remains the same and is as follows:
I have had the opportunity of dining at many fine Indian restaurants, in many different countries, over the years. Yesterday, I had the pleasure of dining at Gandhi Palace in Cascais, Portugal. I grew up in Toronto, Canada, where we have many great Indian restaurants. Gandhi Palace is one of the best experiences that I have ever had. The food was so amazing, that I dreamt about it last night. So much so, that I found myself dining there again this evening. The service was second to none. I seriously mean that. The staff were mindful and kind. The timing, as to when the courses of food arrived, was perfect. This quaint little restaurant, in the heart of Cascais, is gem. Even during the bustling tourist season, serenity is the most suitable word in describing the atmosphere, which is a combination of the restaurants decor, but also a byproduct of the attentive and caring staff. If you like Indian food, and have the opportunity of visiting Cascais, do not hesitate in dining at this...
Read moreGandhi restaurant has consistently provided us with an exceptional dining experience, making it one of our favorite spots in town. The food is absolutely delicious, and the option to customize our dishes according to our preferences is a fantastic touch. Jeetram, the talented chef, never fails to impress with his culinary skills, and Amit, the attentive staff member, ensures that our every need is met. The food was delivered promptly.
During our three visits, we were thrilled to find that each time, the food was consistently flavorful and well-prepared. We savored the paneer makhanwala, chicken tikka masala, chicken lababdar, and chicken balti, all bursting with rich, authentic Indian flavors. The prawn curry was a delightful treat, perfectly balanced and mouthwateringly delicious.
Moreover, the poori chole, kadai paneer, naan, and roti were the perfect accompaniments, freshly made and satisfyingly soft. The overall dining experience at Gandhi is one that leaves a lasting impression, combining delectable food with top-notch customer service. We can confidently say that we'll be returning to Gandhi restaurant time and time again for its impeccable quality and delightful...
Read moreTruly reminds you of rustic India in a bad way. I wanted to try Indian and decided to go here. Gandhi Palace is a chain with as many as 5 restaurants in Lisbon(as I found out later). All i can hope is that the other 4 are not as bad as this one.
The place is in an alley that had some construction going on. Not the owner's fault but i found the restaurant empty at 7:30pm. The decor inside is good but that is the only compliment I am giving this place. The waiters in the restaurant were loudly swearing MC/BC and choicest punjabi swear words when i went in, while (loudly) talking to each other. That swear session didn't stop even after i sat and started eating. I made two mistakes - one eating here and two commenting on the food preparation (the butter chicken i ordered felt odd). Immediately the waiter/incharge went into defensive mode and then knowing fully well i can hear him, went to the chef and directed some of his BC/MC to me also for commenting on the food.
I quickly finished eating, paid the bill and ran out. Truly horrible, completely avoidable. If the owner is reading these reviews, he may do well by training his staff on...
