Il Monello — Restaurant in Lisbon

Average restaurant with average food and slow serving time.

Il Monello sits inconspicuous in a quiet neighborhood near the Roma Avenue.

The tables outside on the sidewalk offer an opportunity to catch some sun while you wait for the food and the quiet neighborhood offers a chill and relaxing venue to dine in (on sundays at least).

Now the food is average.

I had some spaghetti alla carbonara with parmesan cheese and i was dissapointed with the serving size.

It's a tiny dish of pasta with some pork meat chunks badly distributed throughout the plate (a very small plate).

Not a being an italian cuisine connoisseur i cannot vouch for the foods authenticity in comparison with real italian restaurants but i felt underwhelmed.

The tiramisu is decent but not exceptional.

The restaurant only had a couple of people eating there, and although there was a single employee serving at the time, the serving time was disproportionate considering the simplicity of the food i ordered and the requests i made (soda refill, tab,...

Great value for the price. But the atmosphere needs improvement, looks really outdated.

I suggest the carbonara.

The carpaccio is outdated. Tasted okay but could be adjusted for something more modern. Would not order again as it is now.

Carpaccio suggestion: Sauce Integration: Instead of serving balsamic vinegar on the side, use a balsamic reduction directly on the carpaccio or try a different sauce that complements the dish.

Rucula Placement: Serve arugula on the side rather than packing it on top. This prevents overwhelming the flavors and allows guests to customize their bites.

Toppings: Add a variety of toppings for extra texture and flavor, such as:

• Pine nuts • Capers • Micro-greens • Freshly shaved truffle (not truffle oil)

Balanced Presentation: Ensure the toppings and flavors are evenly distributed to create a consistent and enjoyable...

I saw the reviews and was really excited about this place. We got dressed up and walked. The place was full (was excited for their progress), but only one person working the tables. And he was running, trying to keep up. Took a while to get seated though the table was free. Another member of staff arrived after about 20-30 minutes after arrival. She took our order. We waited. We each got a variation of the spaghetti. The noodles were over cooked, the sauce was highly acidic and was reminiscent of a can chef in the states that the kids love. I really wanted to like this place. It had all the makings (interesting decor, friendly staff, healthy portions, reasonably priced), but alas, still missing the main...
