This place is a fraud. Ordered a caipirinha & a caipiroska and ended up getting a very expensive lime juice (no sugar nor alcohol). Seriously. The payment system didn't work, they didn't have exchange for money payment (how come?). Horrible experience. That was the first and the list time I have been there so I definitely do not recommend.
PS: After reading your answer I have now doubts that you are not honest neither a good person. For clarification about the payment method, I have tried a national debit card, an international debit card, MB Way and neither worked in any form (even considering it could be a problem with the Portuguese bank, it should have worked with one of the alternatives I tried). So paying with 20€ and having to dig my wallet for exchange after digital payment didn't work is too much, to say the least. Seriously, if you are so good, why didn't you solve it at the time? About complaining, I just ask where were you? Because if you were at the bar and didn't notice any of these, clearly you don't know what you are talking about. Finally, I hope you don't expect me to ruin the moment and waste my energy complaining to your collaborators about a couple of drinks that should be straight forward to prepare. Good luck for you and for your business, without...
Read moreVery quiet, discreet bar to grab a drink.
República das Tapas is a snug, small bar specialized in cocktails and mixed beverages.
For food they serve several "tapas" of which i would like to highlight the "Ovos Rotos" and the "Pica Pau".
They're a great combo if you're hungry.
The drinks are as detailed on the menu and they speak for themselves (most are quite popular).
Just know that if you plan on 'going the distance' and having a complete meal as you would on a normal restaurant, you will easily spend +30€ per person.
And the dishes, while tasty and well cooked, are more like hors d'oeuvres rather thab whole main dishes.
It's fun for having a drink, but may not be the best option (on a price/quantity aspect) if you're thinking on ordering food for a complete meal.
Still a great place and worth a revisit as it's located on my...
Read moreI've been meaning to try this place for quite a while (the place is nearly always packed), so I was delighted to find a table yesterday.
The cheese board was substantial; the meat in the Pica-Pau was exceptionally tender, great sauce, and I loved the variation on the normal theme - the Mushrooms & were also good, but, personally, I'd have liked more garlic!
My only bugbear was the price of the bottle of table/house wine, but all in all, it was a lovely meal, the portions were wholesome and the service was exceptional - my deepest respect to the waitress who...
