Nonna Goes Crazy — Restaurant in Lisbon

Overview: Not a good value for the money - small portion, high price (truffle pasta no protein 14 euros)

Flavor profile of the truffle pasta sauce didn’t work - normally love truffles but this was a huge disappointment. the truffle flavor wasn’t pleasant nor was the tangy cream sauce with grated Parmesan.

Overall bland and one dimensional. Had a Big frowny face while eating.

The Noodle shape didn’t help matters… it was completely wrong for this type of sauce(white sauce).

The noodles”chunkiness and thickness along with the sparing use of sauce made it feel like there was a mouthful of unflavored dough in each bite.

Really wanted to like this eatery … I had been so excited to try it after reading positive reviews, especially since I haven’t had the opportunity to try pasta in Lisbon….but this place was a disappointment.

But maybe my tastes differ from Lisbonite preferences….the woman sitting at the next table had the same dish and said she liked it. It could be a “me” thing.

I don’t like leaving negative reviews, especially for small businesses. And I can concede that others may be perfectly happy with the food here even if it did not work for me.

Your mileage may vary - so it’s up to you to judge if this place captures...

Sitting under a post-blossoming cherry tree on a quiet backstreet square with a beer in a non-conspicuous seating arrangement, I can't say anything else than that this is exactly how I wish to consume my pasta.

I haven't had a better Arrabiata in a 5-star Italian place, nor in a hip Rome eatery, or for that matter in a century old Florian country side restaurant. I'm EXTREMELY picky with my pasta.

I want to thank you, dear crazy Nonna whoever you are, for existing, for making me feel like home and for giving me this gift of really, really, really great pasta in a simple and non-pretentious way.

We must have been unlucky that day, but it was Sunday at 1pm, and we were served by a chef and a girl quite bad-tempered. Every question we asked, it seemed like they were doing us a favor. We asked for the menu, they pointed to the TV, we asked for the menu in Portuguese, there wasn't one. It was 35°C outsidr and the cokes were lukewarm, and guess what... there was no ice!
