O Minhoto — Restaurant in Lisbon

The warning signs were there: not full when the other places were queuing out the door, pictures of food on the menu and a menu that is very long. There's no way all those things can be cooked fresh. We ordered a mix of tapas and one main meal. The tapas was all very underwhelming and not the freshest: tough squid, probably defrosted sardines, black pudding that tested like frankfurter. The padron peppers were ok I guess. At the end they included in the bill something we ordered but they never gave us. Then took ages to correct, then added the complimentary bread as a cost. Lovely staff, didn’t speak English but that didn’t stop from them being so nice and helpful. Me and my partner intended to go there just for a drink and ended up staying for a good couple of hours just having tapas and more drinks. The wine, beer and food was wonderful. Big thank you to restoring our faith in Lisbon after visiting some places by Roisso which were a tourist trap disappointment. If we ever happen to be back in town, we will...

Cibo di bassa qualità. Abbiamo preso il polipo con le patate, era gommoso, senza sapore e non era nemmeno intero. Era a pezzi e nuotava nel piatto con il fondo di olio di girasole, non di oliva, gusto orribile. Il tutto era accompagnato (sempre nello stesso piatto) da insalata e cipolla cruda tagliata a fette (che a mio avviso non c'entrava nulla). L'insalata messa così in un piatto caldo si riscalda anch'essa e non è buona, per non parlare del fatto che avesse assorbito tutto l'olio che c'era. Quando avevamo chiesto il conto, una delle cameriere ci aveva chiesto se quello che avevamo mangiato fosse buono, avevamo detto di no e avevamo fatto presente che il polipo fosse gommoso. Non ha risposto e ha fatto una faccia strana come per dire "strano". Per correttezza non vi consiglio altri ristoranti, ma essendo il polipo emblema portoghese, vi consiglio vivamente di mangiarlo altrove :)

Risposta al proprietario: La so benissimo la differenza tra olio normale e olio d'oliva. Vengo dall'Italia e l'ho provato anche qui in Portogallo sempre con il polipo,e questo era orribile, e NON sapeva di oliva. O è di bassa qualità, o è stato mescolato con altri oli. Il fatto che vi permettiate di rispondere in questo modo ad un cliente la dice lunga, siete maleducati e non sapete prendere...
