We were on our way to another spot when we saw this place - such a cute looking restaurant and it had great reviews.
When inside, it was really sweet - it was just us and the chef there and he was really lovely, which made it hard to provide this feedback in person.
Sadly the food was very greasy and quite bland tasting. We had a selection of dishes - I will highlight the cooked chorizo platter with tomato jam, which was probably our favourite, but the rest was not good.
We had the prawn and cod fritters, which were way too greasy and quite flavourless - we ended up trying to cover them with lots of lemon and salt to add flavour. The seafood pica-pau was really odd tasting and the seafood in it was overcooked (the prawns were so hard). I ended up asking if it had alcohol in it (as I could really taste it) and it turns out it had beer in it. I did read that this is traditional (wine or beer) but I would imagine it needs to be cooked down a but more so as to not taste super alcoholic.
The bacalau folhado was basically the same as the cod fritters but in pastry (for some reason it was recommended by the chef to have both), and the oxtail soup was really bland.
We were hungry so we ate the food but I wish I hadn't - that evening and next day I felt so unwell from all the grease that I struggled to sleep and then couldn't eat anything at all. It's a shame as it is a cute spot and the chef was super nice, but I really wish we...
Read moreFor a long time I wanted to come to this place, since it looks so beautiful from the outside, right in the edge of the train tracks.
Arif (I hope I am spelling his name correctly), was an amazing host and cook. The food was very tasty and the space has a warm, home-like atmosphere. An amazing place to frequently visit, which I will centainly do again.
Of course, I can't forget to mention they have plenty of vegetarian and vegan options as well, all of them really good. Please don't miss out on the Açorda de Tomate e Alho, it's a...
Read moreWe stumbled upon this charming spot quite unexpectedly when tram 28 got stuck in a narrow street. Intrigued by the cozy ambiance of this petite restaurant, which allows a clear view of the chefs' meticulous work, we spontaneously opted for dinner. The food isn’t fancy neither does the menu offer abundant choices, but the dishes presented are taken care off, teleporting you back to grandmothers kitchen table. The personnel’s friendly welcoming and most genuine smile instantly brighten your day. Highly...
