I need to bring up a very disturbing incident that occurred at the restaurant. The behavior of the waiter was completely inappropriate and frankly, creepy. He was incessantly leering at my wife with a disturbing, perverse fixation that made her extremely uncomfortable. Matter of fact, she felt so intimidated that she had lost her appetite and was eager to leave as soon as possible. It was a blatant violation of her privacy and made our dining experience not only unpleasant but also highly unsettling.
Also when we were about to leave, we noticed a cockroach from the private area (kitchen, etc.) heading in the dining room. Foodwise, it was average, the Dhal and okra dish were underwhelming and the Chicken Vindaloo tasted like a regular chicken curry..
I absolutely DO NOT recommend this place due to its poor service, inferior taste, and lack...
Read moreFood was okay, I ordered Butter Chicken and received Tikka Masala instead. I overheard the chef confirm to the waitress for butter chicken and I was billed for Butter Chicken on the receipt, but maybe they didn’t have the ingredients for it and that was the closest alternative. It was good, but did bother me a little that they gave me something I didn’t order. Tikka masala was really oily, they should use less oil. Chicken was good though and the curry had a nice light spice to it. Garlic naan was amazing. The roti I didn’t like it, the dough was of a wheat flavor that wasn’t as tasty as the regular naan, I ate a bite and left the rest. Ambiance was a little dead, but then again it is the winter. I recommend they keep the door closed as it was cold inside. Decent Indian food, but I don’t think I’d ever...
Read moreWe visited Zaika on August 1st and it was an all-around great experience. We started with a variety of chaat appetizers – absolutely delicious and a great way to begin the meal. For the mains, we can highly recommend the Butter Chicken and Chicken Tikka Masala – both were full of flavor, perfectly cooked, and really well balanced.
The man working both the bar and the service was incredibly friendly, helpful, and attentive – a big plus. Also, the Mango Lassi was fantastic and definitely worth trying.
The price-performance ratio is excellent – you get high-quality, authentic Indian food for very reasonable prices.
Bottom line: A clear recommendation for anyone looking for great Indian food in Lisbon. We’ll definitely be...
