O Corrido is a restaurant you simply must go to while in Lisboa. My partner and I went there for her birthday, and that might have just been one of the best decisions we’ve ever made.
Before the music even starts, the aesthetic and atmosphere of O Corrido is very nice. Quaint, traditional, and professional. In my opinion, one of the elements that sets this place apart from others is that it strikes the right balance between fine-dining and artisanal, professional and artistic, both at the level of “vibe” and of what you consume while you’re there.
Speaking of, I highly recommend the fried codfish and duck confit, followed by the lemon meringue pie. Simply an awesome and filling combination. That being said, as far as I’ve seen, all meals are extremely well-rounded and presented in a pleasing fashion. We were expecting a high caliber, and we were not dissapointed.
All-in-all, prepare to spend around 4 houes at O Corrido. The music is performed in-between all the plates you will be served throughout the night, and as others have said, it is a good mix between melancholic and upbeat, solemn and energetic. It is also customary to clap after each song, which is something that highly depends on each casa de fado. The performances themselves are exquisite, done by professional singers and instrumentalists. It’s truly an honor to witness such a talent. We were extremely impressed, and as someone who deeply appreciates music, I was particularly moved and in awe.
Lastly, a special shout-out to the owners: Felipe and his wife. They have both been in the Fado scene for a long time, and will feature as performers throughout the night, so the music has a real homemade quality to it. It’s pure. They are also extremely nice people. Once they learned it was my partner’s birthday, they instantly organized a small celebration in honor of her. Felipe also took the time to chat with us at our table - something he does a lot throughout the night, and which shows that he truly cares about everyone who walks into O Corrido. Once Felipe learned we are Canadian, we talked a lot about our culture, and he then advised us about local places and activities we should go engage in. We were very appreciative of this.
Ultimately, this was genuinly one of the best experiences of my life, and which undoubtedly transcends the 50€+ I ended up spending there. Seriously, this place is worth it in ways that no amount of money can ever quantify.
Thank you so much for a lovely evening, and...
Read moreDining at this restaurant in Lisbon was more than just a meal—it was an unforgettable journey into the heart of Portuguese culture. From the moment I walked in, it felt like I was being welcomed into a family home, not just a restaurant. The warmth of the staff and the genuine hospitality made me feel like I was among old friends, even though it was my first visit.
The fado show was nothing short of magical. It wasn't just a performance; it was a deeply emotional experience that brought the soul of Lisbon to life. The singers and musicians poured their hearts into every note, creating an atmosphere that was both intimate and powerful. The way the evening was structured allowed for a perfect blend of dining and entertainment, making it feel natural and unhurried. Between the soulful music and the engaging stories shared by the hosts, I felt like I truly began to understand and love Lisbon in a way I hadn't before.
And then there was the food—exceptional in every sense. Each dish was a celebration of traditional Portuguese flavors, prepared with a modern touch that made every bite a delight. From the starters to the dessert, everything was cooked to perfection, reflecting the pride and passion of the kitchen.
But what really sets this place apart is how the whole experience comes together. It’s not just about the food or the show, but about how they’re woven into a seamless experience that leaves you feeling enriched, entertained, and deeply connected to the culture. This restaurant didn't just serve me a meal—they offered me a slice of Lisbon's soul, and I’ll forever be grateful for that. If you want to truly understand and fall in love with Lisbon, this is the...
Read moreThis is a MUST do experience in Lisbon. The performers were exceptional, true artists of their genre. The food was delicious and the service friendly and helpful. What you need to know, that may not be clear, is that this is a 4-4.5 hour event. We thought (mistakenly) that it would be about 1-2 hours, but it is twice that (which is an amazing value!).
Shortly after arriving at your appointed time (use the email for the correct address, by the way - we happened upon an old venue with their information on it at a different location in town, but the correct one is on the confirmation email), the waitstaff will take your order for the evening. You are presented with the bread course first, plus whatever beverages you order, and then the performers do a set. After that, you are given your appetizers, followed by another set, then the main course, and another set, and so on. It is truly worth your time and money to see this unforgettable show. In between the sets, some of the artists mingle and chat with the audience, and we were delighted to learn more about the craft of Fado from one of them, which added to the richness of our experience. The sheer joy evident in the faces of the performers was contagious, and at one point we (the audience) were invited to sing along.
There is one more set after dessert, but having just arrived, we were poorly jet-lagged and could not stay awake any longer and had to depart (again, we didn’t know how long the show was). It was absolutely the best experience of our 3-weeks in Portugal (from Porto to Faro). We were four adults all together, and all agree that this was an outstanding experience, food, and service....
