Recently we lost a new little pizza place in our neighborhood. We missed their good pizza, so decided to try Genuino, also in our neighborhood (we live here). While we were waiting, the plates on the table were taken away, leaving only the napkins. The pizza arrived, uncut. The "prosciutto" on top looked like fiambre from Lidl, mushrooms were all but invisible. Wine poured, we cut ourselves a piece. What!? Absolutely no flavor!! Meanwhile, the server brought a plate of food which he put in the cabinet where the wine glasses were. He went back and forth, grabbing a bite with his hands, stuffing it in his mouth, taking silverware from the drawer to set on table, another bite, wipe hand on pants, clear a table, etc., etc. It was disgusting!! Honestly, I couldn't finish eating the meal, between the tasteless offering and his eating, I just wanted to leave. I walked outside while my husband paid the bill. First he noticed that in addition to the pizza and wine, he had added a focaccia on the bill. No, we hadn't ordered or even asked about the focaccia. Then when my husband gave him a 50euro bill plus some smaller bills, he shortchanged him by 10euro. All the time we were there, he never engaged with us, was really unfriendly. Although we are a friendly couple, well-liked by the merchants on the block, we felt no warmth coming from this restaurant owner. We won't be giving this business a...
Read moreFirst of all the Italian owner emphasised when we arrived that this was a traditional Italian restaurant - so no hawian pizzas here (which I respect). The man took our order however did not write it down so this meant that we ended up bieng one pizza short (My pizza was forgot). By the time the rest of my family got their food I think mine had only just been put in the oven. Therefore they had pretty much finished by the time I started to eat which didn't make for a nice family meal. According to the person who ate the respective dishes: The margarita pizza was amazing, the risotto was quite mediocre and the Inferno pizza was a bit on the dry side with not much tomato sauce. (however maybe less is more when it comes to bieng traditional with tomato sauce so I'm not too sure where to stand on that). For the price, the portion sizes were quite small too. The pizza dough was lovely and I really enjoyed the Italian cola drink. The atmosphere was ok, no construction work nearby and the outside seating was in the shade. It just seemed quite dead and boring on a weekday lunch. Considering there was no view (just large apartments iirc) the food was on the...
Read moreNot our first time at this restaurant, we've been quite a few times over the last couple of years and always enjoyed it. Sadly we won't be returning. We both ordered the veal steak with sauce and double cooked potatoes. We got the veal steak and sauce with corn on the cob! When we questioned this we were told "the chef thought he'd try something different" If corn on the cob had been on the menu neither of us would have chosen it. We told the waiter this and sent it back asking for it to come back with the potatoes. We ended up waiting just over an hour for our food. The waiter told us he was 'triggered' by the chef doing this when he finally apologised. When it finally arrived the food was good.
Surely if a chef decides to change something so fundamental to the listed menu the waiter should have asked us first if...
