Excellent family run restaurant right around the corner from the shrine in Fatima. The food was fantastic; among the best I’ve had in Portugal. The owners were VERY knowledgeable about what is and is not gluten free. The menu isn’t marked, but they went through it item by item with us. They also had different vegetables and rice for the gluten free member of our party. The dessert menu is marked for gluten free items, and they have many choices. The bread unfortunately is not gluten free, but for the non-GF people in our group it was free and included in the meal (which is unusual in Portugal). Back then like today I enjoyed the interior very much, it is creative and cozy. As well the offer was varied so that vegans could also enjoy their Coffee Latte. Unfortunately, today, I arrived at lunch time so when I asked for coffee I was told they wouldn’t serve. When I looked at the coffee machine the servant/owner told me that the coffee is only for guests who are having lunch… sorry… good bye. Authentic Portuguese platter included bread, olives, oil, dish of fresh salad, bowl of rice beans tomato, plate of fries, and instead of meat, chunks of tofu in an aromatic broth. tho the meal was simple it tasted authentic. Yes the 9.5Euro was more than the 6.5 platter the tourist dives offered. the place was peaceful and unhurried. we just could not eat the chocolate flourless cake chunk and were sorry to waste it...so glad we found this...
