Stayed here for 3 nights and it was great. The price in April was very reasonable. On entering the hotel I met a very friendly receptionist who spoke English and gave me a map with directions to the sanctuary...which is very nearby...amongst other things. In fact all the staff I've encountered have been very smiley, friendly and polite. My room is big with a large bathroom. There is a supermarket just a few moments away to the right when you come out the hotel. The bus station is just across the street...again to the right when you come out the hotel...which is handy for catching the small train looking bus which takes tourists to the children's homes. And the sanctuary is very nearby just a few moments from the hotel...to the left on exiting the hotel. What more to say but there are many TV channels in English for night time if you wish. And the wifi has been fast enough to stream you tube videos. All in all excellent and I would definitely recommend. Also one more thing. Checkout is up to noon and if your bus to Lisbon is later than that they will store your luggage for you. Highly...
Read moreStayed 1 night. Arrived and departed by bus and the bus depot was basically across the street from the hotel.||The lobby is modern and nice but the rooms were very dated. Bit of a flash back to the 70's, maybe even the 60's. It was tidy but there was an overwelming smell of strong disinfective. I'm not normally sensitive to smells but immediately opened the windows.||Beds were just okay with the blanket being quite old. Unfortunately the large bathroom with a tub had numerous long black hair in the tub and in the bathmat.||There was a fridge in the room and I requested an electric kettle which was delivered to the room on a tray with cups and spoons. You needed to have your own instant coffee or tea bags.||It is only a 5 min walk to the sights along a very pleasant street. ||The included breakfast was very good. For the price I paid I would...
Read moreI paid about $87/night for five nights with Priceline and Orbitz. Credit cards accepted. Phenomenal location--bus station, Pingo Doce, Sanctuary all a short distance away. Excellent included buffet breakfast. Lunch buffet also a good deal. Dinner looked too pricy. Room not huge but plenty of space. Very clean. Bathroom plenty of room. Shower great--overhead and detachable, but, BUT, there was a trick to getting them to switch over. It should only be a press of a button. Room came with minifridge...that did not work. Minifridge was switched the second day and new one worked fine. Powerful aircon and perfect wifi. Two free bottles of water every day. Staff friendly and efficient. Decent gym. If the shower didn't require inside information and the minifridge worked originally, this would be...
