Bar CC — Restaurant in Ponta Delgada

I have never in my life been more humiliated. The bartender yelled at me in front of the entire restaurant. Kicking me out because I have a service animal. He said for me to get that damn thing out of the bar. I tried to speak to him, and he continued to berate me in front of the entire restaurant. I have a neurological disorder, and have a service dog for medical alert. The dog is 4 kgs (about 8 lbs). I would not even give this place one star, but in order to leave a review I have to give them something. They clearly do not deserve any stars. The young bartender in this establishment is rude and disgusting. After reading through some of the other reviews, he obviously has a serious problem with his attitude. Also, he does not understand the law. I live on the island, and have for several years. I spoke with my attorney on the island, and I clearly am allowed to be in their bar with my service animal. We are visiting Sao Miguel from New York and stopped for lunch. We did not have any alcohol but it is evident this place has everything. The food was great- we had one order of steak and fries and one cheese omelet with fries. The steak was a thin piece, but very tasty and the omelet was very good. The fries were warm and crispy. BUT the pineapple gelato was absolutely to die for!!! Certain the best ice cream we ever had. I was told it’s home-made and that seems certain. What a great little bar this is! We stumbled past this place while we were staying at the Canadiano for a vacation. Dropped in to check it out for a coffee. This is the perfect small bar, patronized mostly by the locals, which offers a wide range of drinks, snacks, gelato and great cappuccino. They even have fresh fruit and desserts. Service is great.
