Restaurant was genuinely abhorrent. My family stumbled across this place after checking pretty much every other local restaurant (which were all full). This restaurant was completely empty with staff seemingly sitting around and waiting for someone to come. Reading the good reviews we decided to take the risk and eat here, also taking into account the nice atmosphere. This however proved to be a horrible mistake. I genuinely believe every positive review about this place was bought. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS!! We ordered the local cheese and bread, which were alright (not needing any preparation). Contrarily, the main dishes we ordered, steaks and salads were genuinely horrendous. All 3 steaks were ordered medium rare, and each came out completely different (not medium rare). One was literally cooked half raw half well done, indicating frozen meat. It also tasted atrocious, with the potatoes being soggy and clearly old. After politely confronting the owner, he got extremely defensive, claiming that this is “how it’s done in Portugal.” Very disappointed. Complete juxtaposition to every other restaurant I’ve been to on...
Read moreIt was raining outside and we went out of the museum hungry so we fell in. We came in and it was smelly. First red flag.
Appetizers were ok. Service was nice. But that was it.
We ordered beef, pork and chicken steaks. Chicken was a tiny piece of meat, pretty dry, few french fries with it, rice and one piece of lemon. Pork was the same, but the meat was actually burnt to black. I immediately asked for a change. Service tried to explain this is how a grilled steak looks like. I had many in my life and none of them looked like this. They agreed to change it for a beef steak instead. That steak was pretty average, not great, not terrible. Fries were under average.
If it was not for the nice service i would give one star. Idk how this place could be 4.3 stars at the time of this review. Hopefully this was just a bad...
Read moreThis is the edge of the tourism sector. Locally owned and operated, we enjoy it for the kindness, service and delicious meals.
Many tourists miss out which is a missed place on their bingo card. We come for calm, kind, peaceful dinning.
I can compare their steaks/carne (lombo de vaca) to the special aged steaks costing 4 times the price.
A VERY BIG local favorite. Reservations highly recommended during high season. Like many places. They may look empty, but are completely reserved for the evening. Worth the taste. Swordfish is my wife's favorite.
Tonight 2 entrees, 3 glasses of wine between 2 people (not each) and dessert...
