Tucked away in the lush, volcanic landscapes of São Miguel island, Musa By The Farm offers a dining experience that is both elevated and grounded in authenticity. This farm-to-table gem surprised me in the best possible way and easily takes the crown for the best meal I've had—not just in the Azores, but across both the Azores and Madeira.
I started with the beef croquette, a deceptively simple appetizer that delivered a burst of flavor with every bite. The exterior was perfectly crisp, giving way to a savory, rich filling that was deeply seasoned and unmistakably fresh. It was a comforting yet refined beginning to the meal.
But the real standout was the gnocchi. Light as air, each piece was pillowy and delicate—clearly handmade with care. The sauce (which I can only describe as divine) tied everything together in a way that felt indulgent yet fresh, highlighting the ingredients without overwhelming them. Every bite was balanced and deeply satisfying, a true showcase of what "farm to table" can mean when done right.
The atmosphere of Musa By The Farm reflects its philosophy: natural, serene, and thoughtfully curated. Surrounded by São Miguel’s idyllic greenery, you can feel the connection between the ingredients on your plate and the land just outside the window.
In a region celebrated for its natural beauty and rich culture, Musa By The Farm manages to stand out—a rare blend of elegance, authenticity, and soul. Whether you're an avid foodie or a curious traveler, this restaurant deserves a place at the top of your...
Read moreHad dinner here because it was part of the hotel. I really liked their farm to table concept and incorporating local ingredients. Lots of menu options and reasonably priced. Had the arancini balls - so much seafood and flavour and beautifully presented. Looked at other guests’ appetizers and all looked stunning! Had the catch of the day (rockfish) that came with a green pea purée - it work so well with the fish and so good! And the fish portion was large enough for 2.
My only complaint was the service. The waiter (Pedro) was amazing but he was the only one!!! I never seen someone work so hard and be so smiley!!! He was also the bartender and mixing ppls’ drinks. The table next to me changed their order (because there was an error on their menu) and was making things difficult which delayed service for other tables. I witnessed one table who didn’t even get their order in till 30 minutes after they were seated. But Pedro didn’t seem too stressed. I hope the restaurant could have someone else helping him. All tables were full and seems like everyone...
Read moreAfter five days of touring, this was by far the best meal we had on San Miguel Island! Pedro the sommelier and waiter was amazing with wine recommendations and food explanations. Not a single dish was a miss: we loved the homemade sourdough, the arancini balls are some of the best I have ever had, the seafood and pork cheeks cooked perfectly… dessert of chocolate mousse and pavlova ended the night on a high.
We had a few members of our group with shellfish allergies and they took extra precautions to ensure no cross contamination - they are very attentive if you have dietary restrictions.
Muse is a must if you...
