Terra Verde Tea House — Restaurant in Ponta Delgada

First of all, the food was good - nothing special but good - pancakes very good, scrambled eggs below average (really dry). But the service was absolutely terrible. The lady (probably the owner) is really nice lady, probably good at doing cakes for the place, but there was no system and order at all. When we came, half of the tables were dirty, there was queue for ordering at the bar (there is no self service, but people already waiting at the dirty tables for some time). Some people left instead of waiting for hours, so during our brunch there were 4 tables occupied - the lady was bringing food randomly without any order, I repeat - 4 tables, 8 people in the whole restaurant - and she came with 3 scrambled eggs and asked everyone “is it for you? You had eggs right?”. She was still saying - I’m sorry it’s busy today, but this wasn’t busy day, it was absolutely zero organization. The whole place has 7 tables inside and 1-2 outside so it was half empty. 1 couple left angry without food after 1 hour of waiting, another table had an “argument” with the lady because there were waiting 2 hours and 1 person got the food but another person did not. We were quite lucky because our experience took just 1 hour in total and we were served before other visitors. Maybe we got their food, idk, mess everywhere. I was scared to ask for my drink she forgot, because she looked like she will quit her job. Small issues like having just one fork for 2 different meals, not getting a cup for a cold drink, etc. is not worth to mention. TLDR: the place is nice, she is very nice person probably but with zero organization skill and any system at all, food is average/fine but brunch is not worth 15 euros definitely. Tea...

We decided to stop here before heading to the airport, mainly to grab a coffee and some cake. The staff was friendly, and handed us a lunch menu when we walked in around 11:35pm, so we decided to order a couple burgers as well.

The coffee came quickly but it took about 40min for the burgers to arrive. They were good, nothing special, but at that point we didn't even want to remind them that they forgot our cake, we just wanted to get on our way.

When we paid, they mentioned that the kitchen does not even open for lunch until 12pm. If we'd known this, we wouldn't have ordered lunch at all, wouldn't have had to wait so long for our food, and would've just settled for cake. Not to mention, the cake could've been served...

I enjoyed this little cafe, but make sure you are ready to be patient. The tea is very flavorful and the food tastes great. the have a great variety of teas. The restaurant was very busy when I went and I think they only had 2 employees. It took a VERY long time from when the order was placed to actually receive anything. Even beverages took 20 minutes. I understand that they were busy but to me, that is ridiculous. After receiving the tea I still had to wait for it to steep.
