I cannot express how much we love this family run place! We came to Portugal hoping to find authentic, non touristy flare, and this place checks every box. The food and service were so good that we came back for lunch and dinner on the same day. Everything is fresh and cooked to perfection. The owners Paulo, Marcia (appologies if I'm spelling that incorrectly), and their daughter Sophia are amazing people. They did everything they could to make us feel at home. Paulo sat down with us and told us about his family's story and how the resturant came to be. They've had it for 10 years. The menu is in Portuguese but a quick Google search helps - or ask Sophia, her English is very good. The prices are extremely fair. I've worked in restaurants all my life and have traveled all over the world and I can honestly say that I've never had such a great experience at any other resturant. Then the waiter apologized and gave me the English version, which had no pratos de dia (even though they were advertised on the blackboard outside in Portuguese). I asked the waiter about the prato de dia, but he said that they don't have them and said I have to order from the main menu. I didn't press the issue and ordered half portion of the grilled chicken with potatoes. Then, in the final check, I was charged about one euro higher than it was in the menu.
This leaves an unpleasant impression that they are just fleecing tourists (this place was filled...
Read moreWe’re surprised this restaurant has 4 star rating. The peri peri chicken i had was nice, but the steak my daughter had was a bit chewy and missed some flavor, and fish my wife had felt like the cheapest frozen fish fillets you could buy in a supermarket and probably still do a better job frying it yourself. It wasn’t expensive and the food was edible, but it’s not worth 4 stars. The fries we all had was also very strange, definitely not freshly chopped and fried. We sometimes buy a bag of frozen fries at home and it’s much better than...
