Recently on the night of the Nations League final, three of us decided to watch the match here. One of our group arrived in first and went to the bar at the back, where he found some seats. He returned to the counter at the front and spoke to the pleasant young female bar attendant who told him we could sit down and she would take our order. Just as the other 2 of us arrived, an older woman who works there butted into the conversation and told us there were no seats.
We then politely drew her attention to four bar stools just inside the front door that were vacant; she ignored us and walked away.
It was not the first time this woman was obnoxious towards us. And that was why we had not visited the place for the previous year, even though we had been quite regular customers until then. I reckon our absence will be even longer this time!
PS The management replied (below) that I did not show respect to the employee. This is not only completely untrue, but, legally speaking, libellous. I am currently taking legal advice and am likely to take legal proceedings on the basis of this...
Read moreFábrica da Picaria is a gem nestled in downtown Porto, ideal for craft beer enthusiasts and snack lovers alike. The star of the show is undoubtedly the extensive selection of locally crafted beers, featuring a variety of types that promise something for every palate.
However, beer isn’t the only reason to visit. The cachorrinho-a classic spicy hot dog-is a must-try. While it might not claim the absolute top spot in Porto, it certainly earns a strong place within the city’s top three. The well-balanced flavor, quality ingredients, and the mildly spicy sauce (don’t let the name fool you; it’s pleasantly mild) combine perfectly to create a delicious and satisfying snack. Pair this with a beer and some appetizers, and you’re set for an enjoyable lunch or dinner.
From my experience, one cachorrinho per person might leave you wanting more - but don’t worry, the fantastic staff will gladly keep them coming. Service isn’t the fastest, but the friendliness and atmosphere more than compensate, making Fábrica da Picaria a reliably...
Read moreGreat beer! They have a selection of 9 beers with, everything from stout to fruity beers. Since its a craft brewery, sometimes beer can run out, so don’t wait until “late Sunday to visit fie the first time!
The bartenders are always super helpful and friendly! There is ground floor seating and two family style table in the basement. The back courtyard is pleasant when people aren’t smoking.
The bar is literally double-doors wide, so it’s easy to miss when walking by.
We didn’t try the food, but next time we may. We were escaping our children and just out to drink and have a good time. LOL!
While we were there, it seemed time be groups of people, since there isn’t a bar per-say, ota difficult to mingle.
Mu husband had the stout. It was light with typical coffee and chocolate notes with a light hint if roasted maple.
I had the orange Weiss which was crisp and flavored just as expected. It was similar to a Blue Moon but better. A perfect...
