Adega Bebe Se Mal — Restaurant in Porto

Such an amazing local restaurant. It’s by far one of my best seafood experience.

The shrimps with garlic for starters are amazin. I loved them. And actually went again on the next day to only have those shrimps again.

We also got seafood rice and it was very tasty. I would personally recommend the rice for 3 people and not only for 2 as it’s kinda huge with different seafood varieties inside.

The Cali Mary was also great with a lot of fries and some salad on the side.

The internal decoration of the store is quite interesting with so many hand written reviews by customers from different cultures and many different languages about the food and the place.

The place is tiny, yet very very authentic. I would also recommend sitting outside in the terrace if there is an empty space. The tasty food with the romantic small street in the middle of Porto would give you such an amazing photographic memory of this beautiful city.

The stuff was also super friendly, super helpful and always smiling. They could speak fluent English and Spanish as well as Portuguese for sure.

Oh yes, I almost forgot! You have to try the octopus. It was...

The food is good. No question about it. But the attitude is what brings the rating down to one star, which is appropriate. Two reasons for that: (I) We had made a reservation for nine pm on the terrace. When we arrived, the owner tried to tell us quite arrogantly that we would see that everything is taken. I then told him, that it's nine, we are here and held up our end of the deal. So where is his commitment? Then it took some time bu he finally made a table available. (II) When we wanted to pay, they suddenly informed us that they only accept cash but that I could walk to the nearest atm, which was half a kilometer away. I had to do it with my girlfriend left waiting and pay an additional 5 Euro fee to withdraw from an atm. That was the final straw and absolutely unacceptable. If you don't accept card, then tell me so beforehand but don't have your customer walk around half the city because you prefer cash payment due to whatever...

After reviewing the Google Map pictures we thought this is a good place for a dinner especially it is next to our holiday apartment.

We ordered a starter of clams, including razor clams. When they arrived most of the shell were empty, and the razor clam was tasteless. We complained and the waiter brought his chef out to argue with us, accusing us lying as we "finished" the starter clams. The razor clams was mostly left untouched but the waiter still believe we were being unreasonable. That's was just the starter. We thought to persevere to the main course, and to be fair, the steak was OK. However by then our overall experience was ruined and rushed to leave. We paid the bill full without sharing any further words with the waiter. This was a very disappointing experience.

There are far better places to go for a meal in this beautiful city. Save yourself from disappointment and disparagement from this...
