In short: Bad experience and very high prices relative to Porto.
We are a family of celiacs and were happy to find a place where we could eat a burger, so we all ordered burgers. But...
2 of our burgers had thick long hair intertwined in the meat. The meat paddy itself tasted cheap - for 18€ I'd expect better. The bread was not toasted and actually cold. They offered to bring us replacement burgers, but at that point we didn't want to eat more of their food. We were charged full price at the end. All of us had upset stomachs afterwards.
It has a very basic and cheap setup, however with prices like a fancy place or restaurant on the river (9€ for a caldo verde?)
There are few gluten-free places but this is one I won't go back to anytime soon.
I give 2 stars and not 1 just because of the effort to offer gluten-free options and...
Read moreThis restaurant was a great find. My wife wasn't feeling well and she wanted soup. We went to one restaurant with soup but it was not gluten free and my wife is celiac. So I looked up gluten free restaurants on google maps and found Tasquinha do Be. I would describe it as comfort food for celiacs and those who are not celiac. My wife had Caldo Verde and we had Chorizo which were so delicious and to top it off we had some great Gluten Free Fried Calamari, my wife was so stoked to have fried calamari. We also had beer, they have Gluten Free Super Bock here! This was the perfect restaurant to find for Gluten Free Comfort Food on a hot day in Porto. Our waitress provided such good service, she took her time and explained all of the dishes in detail. A really, really good experience! Highly...
Read moreWe were a party of four who ended up eating twice at Tasquinha do Bé during the same day (lunch plus dinner), simply due to it being such a positive dining experience! One of our four members required a gluten-free meal due to celiac disease and we wanted him to experience northern Portugal’s famous francesinha, of which the restaurant had a gluten-free option (in addition to gluten-free Superbock). He greatly enjoyed it while the others had mussels (my wife said they were the best she has ever had!), prawns, and salad. The food was simply excellent and the restaurant was an easy five-minute walk from the downtown. Our server both times was Gianni and he spoke English very well (two of the four did not speak Portuguese). We would highly recommend and we will definitely return...
