I came with really high hopes. I was very disappointed. Pros: The decour is interesting. The wine selection by the glass is very good, I counted possibly 14-18 wines by the glass? The prices are reasonable.
Cons: The service is perhaps the most impersonable service I have ever encountered. It's not uncommon to ask for a recommendation for a wine in a wine bar, what is uncommon is to be told "I don't know much about wine", "I don't have time to talk to customers or I'd go out of business" and "this isn't a place to taste wine, this is a place to drink wine" and then be given a 3 minute unsolicited lecture on how pofessionals taste wine. The space is incredibly small which is both a pro and a con but mostly a con as it becomes incredibly loud. The food that should be hot is cold, granted this seems to be a trend in Portugal. Your patronage is not valued, no one asked us how anything was/if we were happy.
Conclusion: I don't know what the point in offering such a wide selection of wine is if you have no interest in talking to your customers about what they are looking for.
There is a MUCH better option a 2 minute walk away called "mind the glass" where I was able to get a custom flight of three wines based on what the sommelier recommended after listening to what I liked/disliked. The recommendations matched my expectations and the environment was much...

At the end of a sloping street in Porto—one that doesn’t try to impress you—there it stands: an old church with a yellow plastered facade and a cross on its roof. A wonderful old tree guards the entrance, and just in front, a few simple tables and chairs rest by the edge of a stone wall. Cars pass by on the cobbled street. You see trash bins. You hear the usual city noise. It’s nothing special. Until it is.
You sit down.
And then something shifts.
A strange and quiet stillness creeps into you. As if some unfamiliar energy has gently entered your body. Suddenly, you’re thinking about life. Not in a dramatic way. Just… honestly. It’s not mystical, but it feels real. Like something in this place touches a part of you that’s usually hidden.
And then the very tasty wine arrives, a high-quality local product.
A perfect match for the moment, for this place, for this quiet transformation.
It’s an experience. With Porto. With yourself. With something you’ll carry long...
Read moreMy husband and I were visiting from the US and we loved this small wine bar. It’s a little off the main drag so it’s quiet, with great taste in music- think tango/flamenco. We actually ended up going twice during our 1 week visit. It’s in an old chapel so it is cozy and if you are inside you can admire the detailed wood carvings of the altar. The outside area is nice as well- we actually sat there during the Portugal World Cup game- the perfect way to watch it. We ordered a few small plates and the waiter (who was great!) recommended a wine from the Dão region of Portugal for us. The second time we were there’s different waiter was great about recommendations as well. Both times they had us try the wine and see what we thought. The food was delicious- we ordered the mixed charcuterie and cheese plate and the avocado salad. So good. I highly recommend stopping at this place if you find yourself in Porto and like a laid back...
