O Caçula — Restaurant in Porto

A great little restaurant serving modern Portuguese style food. Great for vegetarians as well which for anyone who has been to Portugal will know is not exactly common. There were plenty of tapas dishes to choose from including grilled portobello mushrooms, fried polenta, and and asparagus omelette. In addition there were three vegetarian mains and pizzas to choose from. Everything we had was delicious and we found that four or five tapas along with bread and dessert was enough to properly fill the pair of us after a long day travelling. Service was friendly and prompt but not rushed. Menus are available in English and the clientele was a good mix of tourists and locals. I ordered chicken francesinha and chocolate milkshake. I thought it would be best to have the traditional one which I couldnt eat beef so I ordered this an alternative. I was told by a friend that francesinha is a good that is a must try when visiting Porto. The secret of the recipe was beer sauce. So far, it was a good francesinha.

This has become our favorite place to go in Porto for weekend brunch. The food is amazing: eggs Benedict to die for, Calzones like you’re in Italy and fresh juices that taste like the tropics. Beyond that, the service is always warm and top notch.

We have a ten month old daughter which can make dining out challenging but Gabriel has always made us feel at home and goes out of his way to make sure we have everything we need and more when dining with an Infant - he’s even brought extra portions of orange juice, her favorite, to share...
