The front of the building is a little bit old but quit nice, and in the portugees style: with shiny (sadly not that shiny any more) blue tiles. The entrance is very nice done. No idea what material it is, but it looks like white marble (I suppose it isn't otherwise it would be quite expensive for a 2 star rating.) The reception is on the first floor (a small bummer if you have 4 suitcases, and we were still wearing or Belgium clothes (20°C ) in Porto temperature of 32°C :(. The hostess is very friendly, she spoke only French or Portuguese, luckily we (my wife and me) understand French, and she gave us a clear explanation of what todo and what to expect. She gave us the key of room 32 which is on the 3th floor (damned why did we need 4 suitcases for 20 days of portugal...). That room has a nice point of view to the park its located too. Some minors. No airco, but I think thats normal for 2 stars. An air vent is available to blow some wind in the room. Another minor, there are indeed ants in the bathroom. Not that much. I discovered each day 1 or 2. But it is weird that there are still ants on the third floor.... The room is a little bit old. And the room rather small.||So after all not horrible, but could be better. With some extra effort they could make it a...
Read moreThere are ups and downs of our stay in this hotel. We loved how the personnel was doing their best to help us with anything we needed. Although we arrived late in the evening at the lady at the reception spoke no English we managed to communicate with help of google translate and she helped us to find what we were looking for. The lady would always make sure she switched on lights in the hotel hallway for us to get upstairs safe. The view from the tiny balcony on Praca Carlos Alberto is amazing! Also, the hotel has a good deal for underground parking which saved us some money. Disadvantages: the room is really very small. We had to jump over the luggage to get to bed. The bathroom is so small there's no space to hang the towels and the walls seem to be made out of carton cause we could hear every whisper and sound...
Read moreWe have spent one week in San Marino (hotel or residencial, there are different signs) and that was a positive experience. We had a room overlooking the Praca Carlos Alberto and with a small balcony. Bathroom was good with a quite big shower cabin. The breakfast was adequate, the bread was always new, but a piece of cheese would have made it even better. We used the opportunity to have the rented car in the car park under the square and pay for it at the hotel, which saved us a lot of money. Walking to the center of Porto was easy and Douro river and Vila Nova de Gaia was only a few minutes further away. We were there during the Sao Joao Festivities and watched the outstanding fireworks on the river together with thousands of people at...
