Went here for a lunch with coworkers, we were 12, at the busy hour and when the restaurant was packed, but I feel we were served within a decent amount of time.

There was a delay between the vegan francesinha and the standard ones, the regular ones came like 10min after the others, that was not great.

I only tasted the vegan, everyone talked a lot how great those were so I feel I had to try it. It was very good, and very tasty (I’m always concerned with the chemicals that make those similar tastes but I felt I had to try it. I had an egg with it, because francesinha needs eggs ☺️ (a real egg ☺️)

The French fries are divine! The beer came cold and fast and it was a very pleasant lunch.

The staff is...

Considering this was my first Francesinha, and vegan at that, this is the benchmark I will measure all vegan Francesinhas against. It was very tasty as I had to confirm it was vegan because of the textures. If I ever return to Oporto (I'm hoping so) I'll return here if I'm ever in the mood for a Francesinha. I'm glad I got there shortly after they opened at 1900. It's very popular with the locals and for delivery. Don't forget your euro, they don't take credit cards.

Update: It's March 2022 and I'm back in Porto. I tried a vegan francesinha elsewhere and I still prefer Casanova. There's even more sauce. The price...

FYI they only take cash. Very authentic Portuguese food, and they had a whole menu of veganised versions which were really tasty. Really nice, friendly service and big portions! I’d never had Pica Pau before but their plant based version was super tasty and so was the veggie salad. If you’re looking to try some classic diner style Portuguese dishes (esp vegan!) check it out. If I could change one thing I would say the lighting was a bit intense haha but otherwise really enjoyed the visit.
