Owls Hostel Ribeiro — Hotel in Porto

Owls Hostel Ribeiro exceeded all my expectations! The beds are extremely comfortable, with high-quality mattresses and pillows you’ll sleep like a baby. The shower and bathroom are also outstanding: everything is spotless, modern, and the water temperature is easily adjustable to your liking.

The staff is amazing very kind, helpful, and always ready to make guests feel welcome. The cleanliness throughout the hostel is impeccable, and the kitchen is very well equipped with everything you need to cook comfortably.

The outdoor area is cozy and inviting, perfect for relaxing or chatting with other travelers. The location couldn’t be better just a short walk from the Pingo Doce supermarket and the Marquês metro station, making it super easy to get around the city.

Very bad experience. We are 3 girls and booked a 4-bed room in a hostel, paying extra for the fourth bed just to have the whole room for ourselves and avoid sharing. But when we arrived, they told us the room was no longer available because they had already given it to someone else, despite our confirmed reservation. Instead, they wanted us to share the room with a man or split into two rooms with other girls, which we clearly didn’t want. The staff was unprofessional, unhelpful, and refused to find a proper solution or refund the extra bed. The place also smelled bad and felt uncomfortable. Thankfully, Booking.com canceled our reservation and processed the refund. We moved to another hostel which was much better and more welcoming. Definitely not...

Sharing this to help other travellers avoid this place and a headache:

Bed bugs (photos attached) were found in different areas of the (dirty and unsanitary) room, on the walls, electricity sockets, bed sheets, and pillows shortly after arriving at our room. We were guaranteed a refund once we left on the same night (which is the minimum) but after we left Portugal, we received a gaslighting email stating we are wrong about the bed bugs and already got a refund....
