I recently dined at a local seafood restaurant and wanted to share my experience. Firstly, the restaurant's Google Maps listing stated a 7:00 PM opening time, but to our surprise, they opened at 7:30 PM without any notice or updated business hours posted at the entrance. This initial confusion set a slightly off tone for the evening.
Once seated, we noticed a significant wait time for our food, about 30 minutes, which was unexpected especially for the two cold dishes we ordered that presumably required minimal preparation.
On a positive note, the seasoning of the dishes was robust, pairing well with beer, making it a good choice for those who enjoy stronger flavors with their drinks. However, the food tended to be on the heavier side, with a noticeable oiliness. This might not appeal to everyone, especially those looking for a more upscale dining experience.
We tried a variety of dishes including cuttlefish, sardines, fried cod, pig's ears, and a pork chop bun. Each dish had rich and intricate seasoning, which explains the high ratings the restaurant has received.
In summary, while the flavors were enjoyable and well-executed, the service and ambiance aspects could use some attention. It's a decent place for hearty seafood with a casual setting, but I'd recommend checking if they're open...
Read moreA hidden treasure in Oporto back streets. Limited menu of traditional Portuguese fare prepared there and then by the highly efficient lady owner. Had lunch and dinner on consecutive days. Be mindful of opening times lunch is 1 to 4, the evening is 7 to 9:30. There will be a queue outside so get there early, no reservations. Limited space available, if you're not in forget it!!! as traditional as you would wish, sardines, octopus, cod croquettes and pigs ears and stomach, tripes and gizzards for the more adventurous. The house wine, home brewed I think, is ideal to wash it all down. Please take some time to talk to the elderly owner who is part of the furniture and a delight. The young lady, granddaughter, who was at the lunch service spoke English and was a huge help and so nice. Get here while you can, there is talk of the building owner wanting to make it part of the hostel upstairs, this would be such a shame. Terrific ambience, terrific food, terrific family run restaurant. Miss to...

One road away, you can buy all the usual tourist food, kebabs, burgers and cheese and ham sandwiches you get in every city.
Come back here and Christina and Fernando will make you food to nourish your soul and connect you with Portugal.
We had so much fun and delight here, Fernando and Christina make you feel like you are in their home.
Most of our conversations were limited to "OMG that tastes amazing!"
Every bite here was like that scene from the film Ratatouille when food critic Anton Ego is transported back to his mother's cooking in one bite.
This is a very small place, maybe six or seven tables inside and whatever they can get outside.
It is very hard to find, but more than worth the effort of wandering around being frustrated with Google Maps.
Our main reason for coming via Porto to visit our family in Galicia is to come here and eat again and...
