It was 12:25 PM, February 29th, 2024. An extremely unfriendly and rude lady at the reception, without greeting or making eye contact. She did not even look at our faces or say thanks. She seemed very grumpy and somewhat angry. This really ruined our first impression and mood upon entering. Hence, a low rating for this place. We were quite shocked at how such a person could work at the ticket desk, especially when dealing with tourists daily.

The palace was okay. It was far from impressive, with a rather small collection and only a few rooms to see. The exterior of the entire building is in need of serious maintenance. Take a walk to the side and the back of the palace, and you will see that it has been neglected for a...

We had a very disappointing experience with this museum. They sold us tickets that had last year’s date printed on them. When we tried to use the tickets at the cathedral, we were shown the date and told that the tickets were invalid. They asked us to return to the museum.

At both the museum and the cathedral, the staff refused to speak English, despite it being a tourist location. At the museum, the woman at the counter denied there was any issue, even though the staff at the cathedral had clearly pointed out that the date was the problem.

This was incredibly frustrating and unprofessional. We ended up wasting our time and money, and received no help or accountability.

Following our visit to the Sé do Porto (Porto Cathedral) next door, we came here. We purchased a combo ticket at the other place for €6 which you can pay with cash or card. If you do buy a joint ticket, I’d recommend keeping the receipt so you can show the staff the ticket entrance. Otherwise I believe it’s about €4 for entry.

We arrived about 2:30PM and found the palace was fairly empty and quiet. There was only one member of staff at the ticket desk but otherwise the palace was pretty much unstaffed which we were quite surprised about.

The place is incredibly well-maintained and beautiful to visit - if you have time, definitely purchase a combo ticket to see...
