I went to federica with high expectations, and I can say that I left feeling that my expectations had been far exceeded.
Starting with the incredible attentive service of Head Waiter Mariana and João, they were truly impeccable. My friend and I, who had an 11-month-old baby, were treated with great care and attention, and we can only thank them.
The food... I can honestly say that it was by far the best food I've ever had in Porto. We started with the garlic bread, totally unexpected for something that could be simple to be so delicious and well done.
For mains we ordered the tagliatelle Verti and Rosso to share, we wanted to try everything, and if we had the capacity, we would have! It was truly divine! And as a vegetarian, I was very happy to have so much choice and to feel that there is love and a lot of attention in the creation and execution of the food.
We moved on to a four-cheese pizza and my only regret was that I couldn't devour it all! It was so good, the dough that I wouldn't normally eat all of, I couldn't put it down, the dough was as delicious as the filling!
Finally, we shared a tiramisu and a ricotta, white chocolate and pistachio cannoli. The perfect end to a perfect meal.
Chef Rafael Gomes once again proved to be innovative and impeccable! I became a fan!
We had the pleasure of meeting the members of the kitchen, which is open and gives us this wonderful experience, which Helena (the baby) loved! The chefs Vitor and Francisco are to be congratulated, everything that arrived at our table tasted of perfection, love and dedication! In addition to the goodwill and joy they gave us by interacting with us in such a friendly way!
Once again, thank you Mariana and João (who made helena laugh many times) for your attention and care, I will treasure this evening as one of the best of my time in Porto, and I will be back as soon as...
Read moreAbsolutely not a genuine Italian. The carbonara had no taste. I suspect they used cream since the sauce was very white and runny. Also no black pepper to be seen. Lasagna was drowning in a salty red tomato sauce. Service was okay. By 20:15 the staff started to turn away people despite having 4 open tables inside and more tables available outside. We were in there for 45 more minutes and none of those tables got filled and none of those were marked on their tablet as being reserved.
Tiramisu was meh and missing flavour. Coffee was weak and definitely not from an espresso machine. I don't want to assume but I think none of the staff were Italian.
Staff was friendly but head waitress was constantly hanging over the kitchen counter while on her phone ignoring customers.
They ran out of coke zero during lunch and didn't bother to restock for dinner.
The good thing is they advertised more restaurants on their t-shirt and on the business card we got in the end so now we know more restaurants to...
Read moreI had an enjoyable meal in this new Italian restaurant just around the corner from 24 Agosto. Refreshingly different apoetisers from which I had a little bowl of caponata with foccacia. My pizza Margherita was good but not quite perfect, lacking the wood fired oven. Panna cotta was everything it should be. While I like Portuguese wine, it was still nice to see Italian wines on the list and the Orvieto was light and refreshing.
My second visit was unfortunately less impressive. My wife's tagliatelle rosso was cold when served and just warm after we complained. Small dishes of pasta were definitely on the small side. My tiramisu was sweet and really didn't require a puddle of caramel sauce on the side. My wife's pannacotta was not set and collapsed onto the plate. I want to like this place and maybe it's just teething problems but it's the customer who ends up...
