LA CREMA — Restaurant in Porto

I came to have an ice-cream with my small daughter. I ordered 2 cones and when I went to pay the waitress said they did not accept cards. I thought it was odd for a touristic place to not get cards. Unfortunately I didn’t have any money on me as I am used to pay everything with card/ApplePay. I apologised to the waitress and said I would not take them as they did not accept my only way of paying. The waitress started to harass me saying that I had to pay and started forcing me to withdraw money on the ATM (multibanco) whist this was happening another waiter came and said they had a minimum spent of €10 on the card. At that point my daughter and myself were already distressed with the waitress harassment and we left. If the waitress from the beginning had said there was a minimum spend on the card, I would happily buy something else, as the place displayed many yummy things. Unfortunately with her attitude they lost a potential cliente and I was not able to have what looked like a very tasty ice cream.

EDIT: the owner has affirmed that there are 4 signs saying that they do not accept cards. I have just passed in front of it and there is NO SIGNS saying that. However he eluded the main issue which was the HARASSMENT my daughter and I were subjected to by the staff. Mr owner, one cannot withdraw money in an ATM with ApplePay, however politeness...

recently stopped by this gelato stand for a quick treat. While the gelato itself was excellent—creamy and full of flavor—the customer service left a lot to be desired. After my order was scooped, I was informed there was a €10 minimum for card payments. This caught me off guard, especially since I had only been using Samsung Pay throughout Portugal without any issues. Had there been a clear sign or prior notice, I would have planned accordingly.

When I explained the situation, the staff member insisted on the minimum but eventually allowed a charge of €7 after I added an egg tart to my order. I also requested a bag to carry the tart back to my hotel and was told I would have to pay extra for it.
