Exquisite Flavors at Porto Escondido
During our recent visit to Porto, we had the pleasure of dining at Porto Escondido, a restaurant that truly lives up to its name as a hidden gem in the city just beside the river in a very authentic location! From the moment we stepped inside, we were captivated by the warm, intimate ambiance and the impeccable service.
For the main course, we chose the Grilled Salmon and PATANISCAS DE BACALHAU which were a revelation. The salmon was cooked to perfection—crispy on the outside while remaining tender and moist on the inside. It was seasoned with just the right amount of herbs and spices, enhancing the natural flavor of the fish without overpowering it. The dish was accompanied by a medley of seasonal vegetables that were fresh and vibrant, making every bite a harmonious experience. The cod fritters were light, crispy, and bursting with flavor, served with a delicate aioli that complemented the dish beautifully. It was a delightful introduction to the culinary prowess of the kitchen.
To accompany our meal, we selected a bottle of Wine Verde, a refreshing choice that perfectly balanced the richness of our dishes. The light, slightly effervescent nature of the wine paired wonderfully with the seafood, adding a crisp and zesty note to the meal. For the dessert, we had NATA which is a traditional Portuguese Dessert that you need to try with cinnamon and is so delicious!
The entire dining experience at Porto Escondido was exceptional. The attention to detail, from the beautifully presented dishes to the knowledgeable and friendly staff, made our evening unforgettable. If you're looking for a place that combines traditional Portuguese flavors with an authentic atmosphere, Porto Escondido is a must-visit. We can't wait to return and explore more of their...
Read moreI ordered the steak dish with egg and ‘special’ pickles. Menu said with French fries and it came with crisps. Steak was tough and full of gristle. Special pickles was a gherkin sliced up. Very little care taken with this dish, and not a nice dish at all. Commented on the crips to be told they needed to change description on menu! Ordered what we thought was dry white wine and we were served a deep yellow desert type wine. Obviously ordered the wrong item but I asked for a dry white. Partner had cod cakes which were tasty, but had lots of bones. This place obviously has good dishes but unfortunately...
Read moreCame here because of the previous reviews, but food was disappointing. Not sure how they got those previous positive reviews. Service was good and seating was OK since we were the only ones inside. We had the cod fritters, cod cod cake, and calamarie and all 3 dishes came with the same salad, rice, and fries with a slightly different type deep fried fish cake. Price was under 10 Euro for each of those 3 dishes; you get what you pay for. While walking in the area, saw a couple restaurants were filled inside and lineup outside. It was a wasted opportunity to eat...
