O Buraquinho da Ribeira — Restaurant in Porto

We’ve had a really bad experience in this restaurant. We had good expectations because there were a lot of people on the terrace, most likely also because we searched for a long time for a restaurant that wasn’t full. My friend ordered a steak, she asked it medium and it was well done, we’ve sent it back to the kitchen, but the second time it was even more well done. After we tred to tell them nicely this wasn’t what she ordered, the waiter walked away without listening to us, after he came back and we tried to explain again in a nice way what the problem was, the waiter started screaming to us on a full terrace that we were lying and that it was impossible that it wasn’t what we’ve ordered. We even showed him pictures of how a medium steak should look and he again said we were liars and made a whole scene again towards us, again with all the people looking, so embarrassing. We were left surpised and in the end a man (we suppose the boss, since he was in normal clothes) took our plate in an really agressive way from the table and told us: you don’t get another one. We didn’t have to pay for the steak in the end, but after all the service and attitude towards us was really bad. Tourist place in nice location by the river. Drinks were ok. Aperol Spritz had no fizz. Waiter was a complete jerk! Stood around holding our drinks and looking to recall where they belonged. I got his attention that they were ours. Instead of thanking me, he put them down like I was being difficult. Told me no credit cards so showed him 20 for bill of 12. He took my 20 and later I saw him serving others, then just standing around with nothing in hand looking around. I was concerned he forgot about my change, so got his attention. He again came over like I was putting him out. He said, I know I know. He eventually came back and had to look at our bill again to figure out change I was owed. Then I saw him accept a credit card from someone else, so I called him on it (we were obviously not friends by this point). He pointed to something in Portuguese on the menu that showed 15. This place was an absolute disappointment. Located near the beautiful Ribeira square, one can presume all restaurants will yield as delicious a meal as the scenery. Instead, the fried cod was a fishy and bony mess. I thought that this local seafood would be the highlight of my trip, but it was a true let-down. Though, perhaps my opinion is colored by the fact that many waiters were openly scouring me with their eyes and did not neglect to make this apparent. In fact, one particular waiter propositioned me! I was highly surprised and totally flattered - that is, until I found out that he was married! His wife was watching from afar!..maybe it was a little too much of a "family-run" restaurant?
