Guaka — Restaurant in Porto

Giving 3 stars for the pre-experience and also some aspects on the experience itself. Firstly, we had a hard time trying to book a table since they wouldn’t pick up the phone. This happened more than once. Then, we requested that our entry (Pico de Gallo) had no coriander and we were informed that wouldn’t be possible because the entry is pre-made. We found it expensive for what it is. The tacos were good but nothing extraordinary. They serve tequilla every 40 minutes for free which is great but don’t expect it to have a lot of alcohol. It gives a great vibe tho, the music goes thematic and (very) loud. On a side note: they give you two options for booking - at 8pm or 10pm. If you go at 8pm, you should eat and leave the restaurant before 10pm so the groups that booked tables for 10pm can...

We had sushi the day before on the other side of the street. The sushi was great, it had great variaty and tasted very fresh. I love fish. When we tried to Guaka to have a drink we were pushed out by the girl with the big eyebrows.

Anyway.... when we returned the following day we were allowed in but.... we were forced to wear sombreros and immediately down a tequila shot... There was a giant timer (probably connected to a mustard gas explosion) in the middle of the dining room.... so we ate as fast as possible cause I aint gon' die in no wetbeck steakhouse! The atmosphere was fun and the margaritas were huge. The service was extremely overworked. Every 45 minutes everyone was given free tequilla shots. I ordered a water by two different waiters the whole evening I had no drop liquid that night. My friend ordered a small cocktail and no bean paste, she got a large cocktail and bean paste. We ordered two corn on a cob and got one.
