I don't usually write reviews. In the case of the RC restaurant, however, I think it is appropriate. It's not just the fact that the rooms are reminiscent of the Belle Epoque style that gives the restaurant its charm. The overall style of the presentation indicates that it is not the ordinary tourist who is being addressed here. It is the connoisseur who is expected here as a guest. The host and owner, an educated lawyer from Porto - he studied in Coimbra, at the university there, which is known for having one of the most beautiful libraries in the world - welcomes you personally and in such a way that you feel as if you are being welcomed by a friend. The high-quality food is served in style by staff who speak French and a little German, although English can be taken for granted. My wife and I discovered this wonderful restaurant while meandering through the alleyways of old Porto, not far from the Douro. So why look for alternatives! We therefore remained loyal to the RC for dinner for the duration of our stay in Porto. If you like to stay later, you should book a table in advance. Fado is played at dinner from 9pm. Songs in this style usually deal with unhappy love, social grievances, times gone by or the longing for better times and, above all, saudade. The best way to find out what the word 'saudade' means is to ask the host himself. My personal greetings to the...
Read moreI recently visited RC restaurant in Porto, and I just had to share the experience — because honestly, it was fantastic. From the moment I sat down to the last bite, everything tasted like true Portuguese comfort food: rich, flavorful, and with that homemade touch that reminds you of family meals.
I went for a traditional dish (I couldn’t resist the aroma coming from the kitchen!), and I was genuinely impressed by the quality of the ingredients and how well everything was seasoned. You can tell it’s cooked with care and without rushing — and that really comes through in the flavor. As for the price? Much more affordable than I expected for the quality they deliver. It’s rare to find such an honest balance in dining these days.
I’d seen a few comments online about the service being a bit slow, but honestly, I don’t get the complaints. The place was full — which already says a lot — and even so, the team was clearly doing their best. You can see the effort, the attention, and the desire to give you a good experience. And when the food is this good, I really don’t mind waiting a few extra minutes.
In the end, I left satisfied, well-fed, and already planning my return. RC is one of those places that’s truly worth visiting — especially if you love Portuguese food made with...

I ordered cheesecake and a hot chocolate for breakfast. (No judging!)
The hot chocolate is not on the menu but they said they would try. Well it was a SUCCESS. It was the best hot chocolate I have had in all my travels and it was sooooo cute and photo worthy!
The cheesecake was as good as my mom's which is the best.
I will go...
