While wandering through the charming streets of Porto, Portugal, my unplanned adventure led me to the enchanting Ruta 9 Resto Bar. I arrived at this restaurant a bit skeptical because most of the American food I’ve had in Portugal doesn’t hold a candle to what we make in the States. Here, it is damn near close.

As a matter of fact, the burger I got here was better than many I’ve had in the states, which I can’t say of any other burger I’ve eaten in Portugal.

Usually, a menu as lengthy as the one here is an immediate red flag. However, everything I saw the staff carrying out of the kitchen looked delicious, and it seemed the customers concurred.

Particularly, the ribs looked delicious. I saw three different groups of people order them, and not a single one of those groups left a morsel of meat on the bones! That should speak for itself.

TL;DR: Whether you’re an American abroad who is home sick for American cuisine or a Tuga who is curious about what American food really tastes like, come here, there’s something on the menu for ya :)

If you're in Porto and craving some mouthwatering ribs, Ruta 9 is a must-visit! My husband and I stopped by today, and we were blown away by how delicious the food was. We tried the American-style ribs, and they were absolutely perfect—tender, juicy, and packed with flavor. The seasoning was spot on, and the smoky finish was everything you want in a great rack of ribs.

We also sampled their cheese sticks, and let me tell you, they were a delightful surprise. Two varieties, both rich and flavorful—crispy on the outside and gooey on the inside. So delicious and definitely worth trying!

The atmosphere was casual and welcoming, and the service was fantastic. It's clear they put a lot of love into their dishes.
