I rarely leave reviews but something felt really off here. You guys can decide for yourselves but I'm just sharing my honest experience: We walked in a bit after 7pm looking for a table for 2. A guy in white stops us from behind and asks us with a dead pan face what we're doing here. When I asked about the waiting time, he responds inpatiently "It's one hour and a half because we just started." Ok, that sounds odd because I look around the restaurant and see people already half way through their entrees. But sure, since we weren't that hungry anyway I ask if we can put our name down. "No." "So we just wait here?" "You can, but its an hour and a half," same inpatient attitude. At this point, I'm 99% sure he just wants us to leave. "Ok" I say as I head for the door. Not sure if he mistaken that for me agreeing to wait 1.5 hours but at this exact moment a "table opens up because somebody cancelled." Crazy how that happens. "Enjoy it," he adds. We sit down and try to order the Tripe Rice, which was somehow sold out 15 minutes after they opened when they "just started." No big deal, we go for the Duck Rice. What's "surprising" is that in the next 30 minutes after we sat down, I see 4-5 tables (out of the ~8 in there) finish up and leave, with other customers who walked in seated immediately. By the time we were leaving at around 7:50, almost all tables have switched out. So here I am again thinking - why was our wait time "1.5 hours" and why did you have to give us that scorny attitude? As you can see, this interaction really soured my mood for the meal. Because absent of this, I would have said the meal tasted ok and the service (by the other servers) was warm. But instead, I am here busting out a mini essay and still thinking about this after the fact because one person made me feel so unwelcome. Instead, I'm going to say this place is unreasonably pricy (seafood rice for 2 is a whopping €54). The duck rice we ordered was a glorified lasagna a little bigger than the size of my hand for €24. Attaching some photos so you can't claim like your other responses that this isn't an accurate review of your restaurant. Enjoy it.

Traditional and exceptional. I’ve been debating a Portuguese friend on our travels all around Portugal. He was ready to conclude that I simply don’t like traditional Portuguese food. As the American daughter of Polish and Italian immigrants who grew up eating stews, cured meats, excellent cheeses, etc., I maintained that I very much appreciate traditional food, but only when it’s excellent. Taberna Dona Antonia was the experience I had been waiting for. Everything I had - including clams, tripe stew, and a cod cake (not pictured) - were perfection. Tender, layered flavors, and supremely delicious. Anthony Bourdain maintained that everything was amazing simply because it was traditional. I maintain that I can make lots of traditional dishes at home, but only a skilled chef can make them sing. The chefs at Dona Antonia sing. Bonus points for terrifically friendly service, affordable prices, a laid back atmosphere, and pleasing house wines. I HIGHLY recommend this little gem tucked into the Ribeira district.

We were searching for traditional portuguese cuisine and so happy we came across this gem!! The restaurant is tucked into an alley, away from the busy crowds. Has an intimate and relaxing ambiance and the food was the best we've had during our trip. Sadly it was the last night of our vacation, and this meal really made it memorable. We recommend the roasted chorizo, it arrived flaming, really adds to the flavor. My boyfriend had the fish patties which were delicious. And the highlight was my octopus dish, recommended on the menu for a reason. It was my favorite meal of our trip. And the portions are very generous. Great value for such an incredible meal. The restaurant staff are very friendly and lovely, providing excellent service. Our only regret is not having an opportunity to visit this place again during our trip, all their food looks delicious, but we hope to visit again someday!

This is an absolute must try in Porto ! We happened to stumble across this little gem and it delivered the best meal we had. The restaurant itself was charming and the staff were very welcoming. We started with the flaming chourico and octopus salad. I’ve been eating chourico my entire life and this was the tastiest I’ve ever had. The crispy crackle of the skin was in perfect harmony with the juicy ,well seasoned meat. My husband , who was a bit squeamish at the idea of octopus couldn’t get enough of it once he tried it. The beautifully cooked chunks were in a pool of an olive oil based dressing, with bits of garlic , onion and fresh parsley. It was divine ! For our entree, we had the seafood rice, it was packed with shrimp, clams, and mussels and the sauce was so flavourful the meal was perfection.Everything was so fresh and delicious that we secured reservations for Friday night , so that we could try more of the menu. The service was excellent, we were so well taken care of . Staff was attentive and welcoming and really made us feel at home. The owner came by our table and was super friendly and charming , a real class act. We loved our dining experience the second time round just as much and will definitely make this place a MUST when we’re back. Also the codfish fritters were the best we had...

We didn't get a good first impression after I ordered a Martini only to be told they didnt have any dry Martini left, infact they didn't have the other 2 types of Martini either after I asked for one of those instead. We then ordered starters and main course, only to be told 5 minutes later that neither starters were available (this was 7pm booking). We reluctantly chose different startera and whilst still eating, my plate was nearly whipped away! The waitress politely apologised but this shouldn't have happened, you don't remove someone's plate before you've asked if they've finished. I continued with my starters when another waitress wanted to give us the dinner plates for our main and I had to remind her that we were not ready and that I was still eating! The main meal itself was quite average but it was disappointing that my salmon wasn't filleted properly and I had quite a few bones in it. Plates were whisked away within seconds of finishing our meal. The ambience was spoilt by impatient staff and far too much...
