I think the worse dinning experience I’ve had, which is strange because it’s a nice place, some great waiters and good produce. It’s the management that let it down, with a level of arrogance and incompetence I’ve never come across before. It started great with some lovely service. Slight annoyance that the starter plates were still left on the table when the mains came out but we could live with that. Asked for the sharing stake medium (knowing in Europe that would be more medium rare). It came out very rare. I took some but was too blue for my wife. These things happen, so they offered to take it back a cook a little more, though they took so long to bring it back that by which point everyone else had finished and the sides were cold. They then offered to bring some more chips out but by the time they came we’d finished the stake and the moment had passed. The mayonnaise we’d asked for also never came. The kids food was also way over seasoned for a kids menu to the point they would not eat it, despite being their favourite dishes. At which point I went up stares to complain and the very nice waitress said she would tell the manager. After sitting down I noticed someone had put a port glass next to me without me knowing. A waiter then came over and gave me a glass of port to appolgise which was nice, but had failed to grasp it was my wife’s meal they had messed-up. The starter plates were still on the table at this point despite the main being cleared. Kids deserts then came out by which point they cleared some of the starters but left a plate (pic below). Ice cream and sausage seemed an odd combo. I then went upstairs again to complain, I always think if this was my place I’d like to know stuff like this. At which point the phantom manager came out along with his boss (may have been owner not sure) The manager then told us both that he had been downstairs to talk to me and had already sorted this out. This was a flat out lie and I’d not seen or spoken to him. I called him out and told his boss this was a flat out lie. His boss told me if his manager says he did, then he believed him over me. I asked him if he was suggesting I had lied and he said yes. At which point my blood started to boil and thought let’s just pay up and go. The very nice waiter (he was personally great) apologised and said he’d see if they could take something off the bill. I went upstairs to get the bill and leave and was presented with a bill by the overall manager/owner for €500 for two kids and two adults. With quite comedic timing but in hindsight a slightly dramatic response, I screwed the bill up and threw it down the stairs and told him there was no way I was paying that. We then ended up having a bit of an argument before he realised that he had accidentally added 100 breads to the bill instead of taking the cost of the bread off. We then finally got an apology for the whole experience and left. Great potential as a restaurant with some good staff and food, management just needs to go a customer service training course

We were able to get a last minute booking at this Sagardi Porto and can understand why. The meal had its highlights but overall thought the food was just above average. Four items we wanted to order were also not available as it was a “busy night.” It would be preferable to know the menu availability may change from time to time. What was particularly lacking was the level of service expected from a restaurant at this price point. We were not acknowledged for 15+ minutes after being seated. When the waiter did approach, he asked if we were ready to order as if this were a fast food establishment. There was no explanation of the menu or shared large items. From there, the attention was just lacking from start to finish and didn’t feel particularly well looked after. Overall, the experience was quite average and there are many many options in Porto for an exquisite meal at this price point. Yes we are tourists that will unlikely be repeat customers but clearly tourist revenue is important to Porto and the food scene. So advice is to do your research and book early for your travels.

Sagardi is a restaurant I fell in love with while in Porto. I have never said that about a restaurant before. I am 64 years young and have been many places in my life and have been fortunate to enjoy some of the best restaurants in the US and Europe, some with Michelin stars. This place!!! The food is to die for, and dinning is an experience. I went one night solo, then immediately made a reservation to take my son and his girlfriend back and they loved it too. You gotta just go, sit back, relax and let these guys bring you food and wine all night. They are so good at what they do! And if you don’t have a reservation try the tapas upstairs - you won’t be disappointed! See you next time Sagardi💙💙💙

Was recommended this spot by a local. The food and setting looked great so we booked a reservation. From the minute we were in to the moment we left every single step in the process was filled with a bizarre level of incompetence. We arrive for our reservation. They take us in to seat us and can’t seem to figure out which table is available for 2 out of the 4 empty available tables. Okay odd but we move on and are seated after a wait. Then we sit next to another couple and watch the serving staff repeatedly fumble taking their order. Bringing them menu items they didn’t order. Again, odd but we brush it off. After about 15 minutes waiting someone finally decides to take our order. In the meantime the table next to us has been repeatedly served a bottle of wine they didn’t order and have to tell the same server that they did not request it. Again, odd. The dinner goes well enough, we are only brought one item we didn’t purchase as somehow they manage to bring out their “complementary” sausage twice. In a bizarre twist our server literally doesn’t know how to use the fork to serve the food she brings. So we sit silently as she learns to use a fork for the first time with each dish. At this point things are becoming less odd and more concerning and irritating. Desert menus are brought before our meal is finished because they literally just forgot to bring out the last menu item. It’s a complete mess. Then to top it off our server proceeds to avoid us for 15 minutes as we sit waiting for the check with a to go box in hand. I have to request the check from each member of the serving staff individually because they simply won’t bring it. I then turn and see the woman who has been ignoring us for approximately 25 minutes now chatting with multiple tables as we just sit and wait. I AGAIN request the check, and she impatiently snaps at me “Yes,yes it’s coming” and then shoots me a glare and stomps off. We attempt to pay the bill and their card reader simply doesn’t work so 2 cards and five attempts to pay later we finally have paid the bill and can escape. The cherry on top is the short dark haired woman serving stops on the way out as we pass her on the stairs and glares at me and my fiancé. I am constantly patient and empathetic to anyone working in the service industry having worked in it myself for years. Asking me to pay 125€ for a dinner service where LITERALLY every step in the process is a disaster and I question if my server has ever used utensils before is insulting. To the owner of the establishment. Your serving staff in the basement on the night of March 30th 2025. A tall dark haired Portuguese woman was great, the dark haired woman of African descent was great. The shorter and older Portuguese woman was terrible, rude and incompetent. I thought the service was just subpar until it eventually became hostile.

Food was good but not 125€ good. It is significantly marked up due to the tourist heavy nature of the area. Servings are minuscule for the price. Don’t bother requests about doneness of red meats as it will be barely rare regardless of your preference. There are certainly better options in the area that won’t drag you endlessly and waste your time to the...

Decent enough food, but not worth the price given how terribly disorganized the service was.

We came to Sagardi at the recommendation of a friend. It was busy the first night my partner and I attempted to go, so I made a reservation for 7pm the next day. Dinner started off well enough after some weird uncertainty regarding seating? The head server/hostess made efforts to explain the menu and give recommendations. We decided on the Astigarraga Tasting Menu, which is a set menu consisting of five dishes.

Three different servers attended us over the course of the night and several times they mixed up the orders and plates of our table as well as dishes and drinks for the tables around us.

Near the end of the meal, a server came and cleared our table and left us with a dessert menu before we even received the final dish of our set menu (a cheese dish). We were very confused at this point and there was obvious confusion among the staff as well.

After waiting for a while, a different server came by to take away the dessert menu and we were left waiting again without a word. Someone else finally brought the final cheese dish, but at this point we were already at the restaurant for two hours sitting through slow and chaotic service. We just wanted to take it to-go and ask for the check so we could leave.

We asked the same server who mistakenly gave us the dessert menu and she had a bad attitude when I asked her. She said she would be back with the check in just a minute. A different server brought us a box and then my partner and I sat and waited for another half an hour, ignored by the same three servers passing by our table and not acknowledging us, before we were able to once again ask someone to please give us the bill.

We were eventually able to pay after a server got to us and fumbled her way through using the point of sales system. The food was decent enough, but it left such a bad taste to have terrible service and be blatantly ignored for no apparent reason. Porto is rife with restaurants, so if you are looking to have a good meal without sitting around for two and a half hours, I would recommend you try somewhere else. I will not be coming back to Sagardi...
